Chrysalis

I'm stuck inside a chrysalis
How did I even get here?
Hiding from all the world's viciousness
Cowering in fear

The unrelenting heaviness
It shrouds me every day
All the time I am imagining
What all the others say

But I still look to tomorrow
When I can spread my wings
And leave my slimy chrysalis
What joy that will bring!

But for now, I am still stuck
In my blanket wrapped with dread
But at least with any luck
One day, this cocoon I will shed

And I will fly.
