"So there is a black haired man who is loitering around your workplace?"
The blonde woman nodded, her companion shyly hanging on to her arm. Atsushi stood by the side, watching kunikida talk with the two women, he wanted to learn the right way to speak to clients so he could be a help to the agency.
"Yes, he seems really suspicious as he often lurks in the alleyways and a few days ago, some of our colleagues had gone missing. The police wouldnt listen to us and we were getting desperate. Please help us."
She spoke with fluent words like a businesswoman, but for some reason, Atsushi could catch a whiff of blood on the two women. The boy was puzzled by the strange scent but they could maybe have just injured themselves and he pushed it to the back of his mind.
"That sounds quite worrying, Atsushi, Tanizaki."
Atsushi let out a small eep as his name was called while tanizaki immediately came over from his desk.
"Both of you, escort these ladies back to their place and patrol the perimeter, try to find the man."
"H...hai!"
Tanizaki held the door open for the women and Atsushi was just about to follow suit when kunikida called him back. He turned to receive a photograph in the face. On it was a man in a black coat with black hair and white tips.
"Um, kunikida san, who is this?"
"A port mafia member, Akutagawa. His ability is extremely dangerous. If you ever see him, don't try to fight, just run. Hopefully you won't run into him, but I rather take no chances since their workplace is in mafia territory."
Atsushi nodded, his composure returning after the shock of instantly being sent out on a mission less than an hour after he joined.
On their journey to the ladies' workplace, Atsushi noticed that their relationship was very close. On the entire train ride to their destination, the black haired woman was lying on her friend's shoulder and they were quietly chatting with each other. Atsushi was even more curious when the blonde woman fed the other chocolate, was that how friends normally behaved? Well that was a possibility, since there were a pair of siblings next to him that were engaging in even more intimate activities. Naomi had insisted on coming as she was worried for her brother's safety, and now she was groping him on the train. In public. Atsushi attempted to distance himself as questioning stares were directed at the pair from the other passengers. Oh why was Chuuya san not here, why did he have to be sent on a mission. Atsushi was praying to the gods above that somehow on a miracle Chuuya san would appear and save him from humiliation when the train came to a stop at their destination.
After the terrible train ride fraught with embarrassment and shame for the poor newbie, he was now to be subjected to a half hour of endless walking as the two ladies led them on tour around the entire area, claiming that their workplace was on the opposite side of town. Naomi didn't seem at all against it as in her words, it was more time to be with her onii san. However, for Atsushi who had not eaten lunch and the only thing he ate was the breakfast Chuuya had prepared for him that morning, by the time they came to an alleyway, he felt ready to just collapse into a puddle of tiger goo.
"Eto, are you sure we are at the correct place?"
Tanizaki asked, staring unsurely at the dead end right in front of them.
"I'm sorry for deceiving you, armed detective agency members. It's nothing personal."
The three agency members turned to see the two women pulling guns out of their bags.
"E...eh?!"
"It was our boss' orders, capture the weretiger."
"It's nothing personal, hand over the weretiger and you can leave safely."
Tanizaki stood in front of Naomi, while Atsushi was tempted to hide behind the garbage bin where he would be considerably safer than standing in the middle of the alleyway.
"It's against our agency's principles to betray a comrade for ourselves."
"That's a shame, then."
An unfamiliar voice came from behind them, and Atsushi caught a glimpse of the very same man on the photograph as he was thrown into the opposite wall.
"Atsushi kun!"
Tanizaki called out but the two women moved like lightning, getting behind the siblings with guns aimed at their heads. However, both weren't going down without a fight, and Atsushi decided he better be scared of naomi as she flipped a broken baseball bat into her hands and slammed it into the black haired woman's shoulder, before opting for an iron pole and started a frenzied attack on the poor woman. Tanizaki himself was a monster, though not as bad as Naomi, small specks of light floating in the vicinity as he too leaped at the blonde woman.
It was light snow, tanizaki san's ability if Atsushi remembered correctly. He had been told the other member's abilities shortly before the arrival of the two women. Despite their efforts, they were soon put out of commission as Atsushi watched in shock, a black mass enveloping the entire area, and he felt a strong thick tendril slither around his neck, making it hard for him to breathe. When the black mass retracted, both tanizaki siblings were lying on the ground, and the two women were gone.With his tiger eyesight, Atsushi saw that their chests were still rising and falling and the two women were soon spotted on a rooftop not far away from his location.
"So this is the weretiger?"
The black haired man, Akutagawa, stalked closer, the tendril slithering around his neck tighter and tighter as his footsteps got louder and louder.
"Not much of a fight are you? Chuuya san must be disappointed to have such a weak person as a student."
As if it were a switch, words suddenly echoed in his brain.
"You and the tiger are connected, use its power like an extension of yourself."
Feeling a tingling sensation on the back of his neck, like an animal was breathing on it, he growled as he swiped at Akutagawa, ripping the tendril off his neck with his new claws.
"Oh, not so weak after all."
Snarling, he leapt at Akutagawa, letting the tiger take over as he transformed into a full tiger. However, the black mass once again blocked his vision, and he received an onslaught of heavy punches as he attempted to regain some sense of what was happening. Before he knew it, he was sent careening into another wall.
Akutagawa whipped rashoumon out again, just in time to stop another attack from the weretiger as he picked himself up from the wreckage and threw himself at Akutagawa. The weretiger was strong and would be a worthy foe if he had been through as vigorous a training as Akutagawa, but he had not been in chuuya's care for long, and was like an unpolished diamond.
However, he was taken by surprise by the tiger's claws suddenly slashing through his barrier, almost cleaving him in half had he not jumped back.
"Ryuu, one of the worst things one can do is to underestimate one's enemies."
Indeed, he had let down his guard and did not expect the claws to pierce his rashoumon.
"Rashoumon, Agito!"
The black mass came together to form a large jaw, but to his surprise, the tiger darted through the fangs, his eyes widening as he could see his reflection in its claws. Regaining his composure, he called rashoumon back, ready for another shot at the weretiger that should incapacitate it.
"Rashoumon sawarabi!"
A loud roar echoed through the alleyway as spikes impaled the white fur and through the body of the weretiger, coming out the top as it was stopped in its tracks right in front of akutagawa.
He panted, he probably saw his life flashing before his eyes at that part. The spikes retreated back into the ground, the tigers body flopping off and landing with a thud on the concrete, blood pooling around the many holes in its body. He was supposed to capture it alive, but he supposed he could just seek help from the scary doctor later.
Turning his back, he whipped out a phone and dialed a number to hirotsu.
"Is this Akutagawa kun?"
"Hai, I have incapacitated the weretiger, awaiting further orders."
"The boss wishes for it to be sent to the basement, will that be alright?"
"H-"
Akutagawa's voice trailed off as a large shadow loomed over him, leaping at him as his eyes widened. A deafening crack echoed through the area as blood splashed through the air.
