Chapter Two, Adjusting

It has been a few very intense weeks since Jasper joined the Amazon coven and tribe, and it felt more like a family to him then the Cullens ever did. While trying to get to know his mate and her family, Senna has also been teaching Jasper how to use his gifts while hunting despite not having a gift of her own, however, that didn't mean she didn't know what she was talking about; she had a very powerful sister and a powerful niece after all. Both of whom had also needed help to control their gifts while using them in general never mind while hunting. Naturally, with time and patience they had gotten there just like Jasper would as well. But today he was nervous for a completely different reason; they were announcing to the Tribe that he was Aiyana's mate.
"It's going to be okay." Aiyana said with her lilted voice, grabbing Jasper's hand and squeezing it gently.

"I just worry. I don't -" Jasper confessed worriedly.
"Hey!" Aiyana said firmly, coming to stand in front of Jasper but still not letting go of his hand, which Jasper and Major noticed with a prideful glee. "I don't know what your previous coven told you, but you're stronger than you think you are. You're getting the hang of using your powers while hunting quicker than you thought, aren't you? And you're gaining more control over your abilities, aren't you?" Aiyana asked gently but firmly, Jasper nodded. "Well then. Our gifts cannot be controlled by the other diet; they're too strong but this does not make you weak and nor does having human blood make you into a monster.

You were never a monster, nor was or is Major, not now and certainly not when you were used by that bitch. I have every faith in you, Jazz. You just need to have it in yourself." She rested her hand on his cheek rubbing her thumb against his cheekbone tenderly while Jasper placed one hand on her hip rubbing at the bare skin with his thumb while his other hand covered her smaller one.
"What would I do without you?" Jasper asked.
"Crash and burn." Aiyana teases, eliciting a loud laugh from Jasper exactly as she'd planned. "Come on, my Elisi and my Eduda are waiting."
Smiling indulgently at her, Jasper entwined their fingers together as they sped off to the reservation that was deep within the Amazon hiding their homes within the deep forests while their businesses were more on the outskirts.

Wanting to surprise his mate and prove he was deeply committed to her and their budding relationship and her, no, their family, Jasper greeted Halona and Chaska the Tribe Elders and Aiyana's grandparents in Cherokee. Surprised but impressed, Halona and Chaska returned the greetings and offered Jasper the clothes of their tribe to wear fully, stating him as one of them and a member of their family and tribe. Jasper was touched beyond belief as he accepted the deerskin trousers and sandals, bowing in thanks, Jasper took off behind the dense trees changing into the trousers and shoes holding the worn trainers and shirts in his arms as he returned before casting them into the fire pit. As they burned to ash they shed Jasper of the shackles of his previous life. However, he was a little self conscious showing off his many battle scars on his arms and chest.

"Jasper, you are a warrior." Kachiri stated firmly. "These marks show you have suffered a great deal, but you have survived and risen above the teachings of your tormentor. Wear them with acceptance and pride which is why I give to you these; the armbands of our warriors." She held out two deerskin armbands that several of the tribe were wearing including Kachiri, Zafrina, Senna and even Aiyana.
"Thank you." Jasper said softly, gratefully, as he slipped them on over his biceps, tightening the laces under his arms. Keeping a tight hold on Major as always, who wanted nothing more than to ravish and claim his mate who looked enticing dressed in a deerskin short halter top, skirt and over skirt that was open at the front and was more like a train.
"Our gift to you is the beads of our tribe. Wear them with pride." Zafrina and Senna said simultaneously holding out red beads, Jasper bent at the waist allowing them to slip the beads over his neck until they rested against his bare chest.

"Aiyana it is your turn." Halona spoke to her dear and only grandchild. If things worked out well between her and Jasper there may be some great-grandchildren soon as Aiyana was part human and there was no risk to her during pregnancy like it had been for her mother. Jasper, feeling confused turned towards Aiyana, his unneeded breath catching in his throat at the white beads in her hands, a blush on her cheeks and a nervous look upon her face. That had been another thing Jasper had learnt during his month amongst the coven; the ways, heritage and language of the Tribe. His new family.
"Jasper, as my wonderful mate brought to me by our ancestors I give to you these white beads as a symbol of our growing affection and courtship that I as the Heiress of the Tribe, and approved by the Elders; my grandparents and my aunts, will you accept?" She asked nervously, no semblance of her outgoing, flirtatious and courageous self.

"Aiyana," Jasper spoke softly and precisely, a hand resting on her cheek rubbing her cheekbone in a mirror image to what she did to him not half an hour ago. "You are the only one who could get me to believe in myself, bring the good out in me and tame Major. You are my light, so of course I accept. And when you are ready you will become my wife." Jasper placed a soft kiss to her lips which Aiyana happily reciprocated. Once they pulled back Jasper bent at the waist once more allowing Aiyana to slip the heads over his head. Next, he accepted the identical white beads from Chaska, and offered them to Aiyana who happily bent at the waist allowing Jasper to slip the heads over her head.

Matching, blinding smiles were upon both their faces as the tribe cheered and celebrated the budding union between them. The celebration went well into the night, and when Senna took Jasper out hunting and for some training to use his gift he did so with a confidence he had been lacking thus far. Senna smiled proudly at Jasper feeling satisfied that he was well on his way to becoming strong enough to protect her precious niece. If there was one thing that Jasper, Kachiri, Zafrina and Senna would fight to the death for, if ever needed, it was Aiyana.

Author's note: if I have got anything in regards to the beads wrong I apologise but I don't have the time to spend hours upon hours researching every minute detail. Plus this is a fanfiction.
