Caitlin slowly opened her eyes. It was hard work. She looked around. The house was in complete chaos. The house was up in flames, the fire alarm was beeping because of the fire and the sprinklers were on, trying to douse the fire. Her own face was hurting. It hurt her to open her eyes and she was having trouble breathing. She saw Barry, covering her but unconscious

"Barry, come on wake up. We have to get out of here"

She slapped him a few times, before he stirred

"Barry, thank goodness that you are ok" she said, hugging him

"Caitlin, what happened?"

"I don't know but we have to go"

Caitlin pulled Barry up, and they started to try and get out. Caitlin found it hard. She couldn't see properly and her chest hurt, as she coughed. Barry wasn't doing too good either, but they kept urging each other on

"Barry, it's no good. We're going to die here. I don't want to die. Their are so many things that I haven't done"

"Well we just have to make sure that we don't die"

Barry grabbed Caitlins hand, and even though it hurt her with every step, she followed him. She would follow him anywhere. She still loved him, despite what had happened. She fell to the ground as they got outside, coughing and wheezing. She screamed as she heard the house blow up, but was protected from it, by Barry shielding her, by covering her. Caitlin collapsed after everything that had happened

Beep! Beep! The noise woke up Caitlin. She looked around and saw her mum and brother at her bedside

"What happened? How did I end up here?"

"Don't you remember anything?"

"My whole body hurts. My chest hurts when I cough. My body feels like it's on fire. What happened?"

Her brother quickly filled her in. Caitlin gasped as she heard everything and how worse it could have been, if Barry had not been there

"I need to see him"

"You can't. His mummy and daddy have banned you and all of us from visiting"

"But I need to see him"

Caitlin tried to get out of bed

"Ow. My legs. What's wrong with my legs"

A nurse entered her room

"Your legs were partially burnt. That's why they hurt. Try to relax"

"But I need to see Barry"

"Caitlin, do you really think that they will let you? Remember what happened last time?"

"But I love him"

"We know that you do, but please lay down and try to relax. No one can go and see him, whilst they are there, guarding the room"

Caitlin lay down, and tried to breathe. It hurt with everything that she had

"Nurse, what's wrong with me? Why does it hurt to breathe?"

"You inhaled a lot of smoke.  Your lungs need to clear up first. Plus you sustained a few burns from the fire. Your lucky that it wasn't worse"

The nurse left, after giving Caitlin some medicine

"It wasn't luck. Barry covered me, like he did all those years ago. He took the brunt of it"

A nurse entered Barry's room

"Nurse, how is Barry doing?"

"It's too early to tell. We've put him in a medically induced coma to allow his body to heal and recover. We won't know anything until he wakes up"

"Our poor boy. He doesn't deserve this"

"Can you both come with me? I've got some stuff I need you to read and sign, and some of his belongings to recover"

They walked out as another nurse walked in

"I'm taking them to retrieve Barry's stuff and sign some forms. It should take about 5-10 minutes"

As soon as they stepped out, Caitlin tore off her mask. Her legs still hurt, and she was doing everything in her power, to not scream. She quickly ran to Barry's bed and took his hand. Where was her Barry? Who was this fragile man, hooked up to machines? Her Barry was also strong

"Hey Barry, it's me. I know that you can't hear me, but rest assured that I am here. I would never abandon you. It killed me to walk away last time, but I had to let you get better"

A single tear fell from Caitlins eye, onto Barry's face. Barry stirred

"Barry, it's me. Can you hear me?"

Caitlin was waiting for an answer, when she heard them outside. She quickly pulled up her mask and walked out of the room

"Everything looks good" she told his parents in a disguised voice. She quickly walked to her room and got into her bed. Her legs were hurting her, after all that walking

"Thank you" she told the nurse, who entered her room

"Caitlin, I managed it today but I don't think that I can do it every time"

"It's ok. I just needed to see how he was"

"I don't understand. If you love him so much, why don't they let you see him?"

"It's a long story. I'm just glad I got to see him"

"Get some rest, and I'll try to get you in again soon"

Duff duff duff. Will Caitlin get to see Barry again? As always, feedback appreciated
