Emily surprised Y/N with her dancing skills. Y/N hadn't thought she'd move clumsily, but watching her dance was definitely something. Y/N almost forgot Emily wasn't who she wanted to dance with, almost. For some reason, Y/N thought Sebastian would really ask her, but in reality, he didn't want to be here at all. She realized even if she danced with him, it wouldn't turn out as she wanted. It's no fun doing something with someone who doesn't want to participate in the first place. Then the dance was over and everyone spread back out to chat with each other before heading home. Y/N walked with Emily to the edge of the clearing. Y/N looked around for Sebastian but she didn't see him anywhere. Her heart sank, she wanted to talk to him, things felt tense all of the sudden and Y/N hated it. Y/N watched Sam and Abby talk in front of the path that led back to town. When Sam walked out Abby looked around until she met Y/N's eyes and walked over to where she and Emily were standing. Abby spoke in an eager voice and it threw Y/N off
"So how did you like your first dance?" Abby continued staring at Y/N expectantly. Y/N was really unhappy with how today went, but she didn't want to share that with her when she looked happy.
"Dancing with Emily was pretty fun, I never knew she had a talent for it." Y/N rubbed the back of her neck and looked at the ground where she was kicking around a rock. Emily blushed at the compliment
"Why thank you Y/N. You seemed tense when we were dancing. Are you alright?" Emily looked at her with worry, and that caused Abby to do the same. Y/N sighed
"I guess today didn't really turn out how I wanted it to" She mumbled and continued kicking a rock uncomfortable with the attention from her friends. Their attention was then grabbed by Hailey approaching their group.
"So are you ready to go home, Emily? I'm tired." Hailey always spoke in an arrogant tone, and it bothered Y/N. Emily's eyes widened as an idea appeared in her head
"Why don't we have Y/N and Abigail sleepover tonight?" She looked around at all of us enthusiastically. Hailey was tilting her head back and forth for a moment weighing her options then shrugged
"I have lots of skin masks, and nail polish. Might be fun." Her voice was ambivalent but her eyes seemed intrigued. Abby put her hand under her chin, scrunched her eyebrows, and nodded slowly.
"Yeah! My parents won't care if I'm at Emily's house. And I don't really have anything to do tomorrow either." Abby clearly liked the idea, now everyone turned to look at Y/N again. She weighed her options "I could go home and probably cry alone in my house, or I could go to a sleepover and have fun." She spoke
"Yeah, that's a great idea. I'll just have to leave kind of early in the morning to water my plants." Emily beamed and clapped her hands together.
"Great! Let's head to my house then! I have plenty of snacks, and some spare pajamas you can borrow." Everyone nodded and they headed over to her house. They decided to watch a scary movie with some popcorn. Now Y/N liked the occasional horror movie, but she was easily scared. This movie was particularly gory. Emily and Abby were into it, but Y/N just scrolled through stuff on her phone to ignore it, and Hailey was hiding under a blanket.
"Can we please turn the light back on and do something else?" Hailey squealed from under the blanket. Emily paused the movie and Abby switched on the lights. Abby frowned and looked at Hailey who had come out from under her blanket.
"Well, what should we do then?" Hailey thought for a moment
"We could play truth or dare?" She looked at everyone to see how they felt about it. Y/N had always liked playing truth or dare in middle school with her friends, so why not? Abby and Emily both agreed so everyone took a seat in the living room. Hailey spoke first
"I guess I'll start since it was my idea." She looked at each of them thinking then she focused on Abby "truth or dare?" With no hesitation and an air of confidence she said
"Dare" everyone nodded slightly impressed.
"I dare you to post a picture of your nostrils in your story." Abby huffed and immediately did as she said.
"That's a dare you wouldn't like to do, doesn't mean I give a fuck." She leaned back and looked at Emily
"Truth or dare?" Abby leaned in a little eager for the reply.
"Truth" Abby leaned back in satisfaction and exhaled.
"Okay so, I have got to know. Do you know that Clint has a huge crush on you?" Emily looked startled and looked at each of us as if asking if this was actually a thing.
"No! I didn't know that! It's not like he ever said anything to me." She crossed her arms and looked away from everyone. Abby laughed
"Dead ass? He's been crazy about you for years man, it's kinda sad to watch." Emily huffed
"I never even thought of him that way. I mean he's just so.. old? He's a good friend, but I just don't see him that way." Ouch. Clint got rejected without even asking. Emily shook her head to clear her thoughts. She looked at her sister
"Truth or dare?" Hailey thought for a moment and shrugged
"Dare I guess." Emily grinned
"I dare you to not wear any makeup tomorrow." Hailey glared at her sister and failed to act like she didn't really care
"I just won't leave the house tomorrow.." her eyes softened as they met Y/N's
"Truth or dare farmer." Y/N had never been much of a daredevil
"Truth." Hailey's eyes seemed to sparkle
"Sooooooo" Hailey raised her eyebrows "If you had to date someone in this town who would it be?" Y/N immediately pictured Sebastian, but then felt sad thinking of how they hadn't talked after the dance. It left a bad taste in her mouth. Emily looked around the room acting very conspicuous, while Abby and Hailey leaned in eager for her answer. Y/N played with her fingers nervously and kept her eyes on her hands.
"I mean if I HAD to choose" She huffed and rubbed the back of her neck mumbling the last part " I guess I'd choose Sebastian." Abby and Hailey squeed. Hailey giggled
"I knew you'd have a thing for sad guys." Abby grabbed Y/N's shoulders and shook her with excitement
"Why didn't you tell me this sooner! I could totally hook you guys up!" Still shaking Y/N spoke
"Cause I don't like attention!" Abby stopped shaking her and Y/N folded her arms in front of her chest. "It's not like he'd like me anyways, he's out of my league." Emily Abby and Hailey all looked at each other, when they all looked at Y/N they burst out laughing
"Look. I don't know if he likes you or not, but he's definitely not out of your league." Hailey stated. Abby looked at Y/N
"Why didn't you ask him to dance? I would have been fine sitting out." Y/N shrugged and sighed
"We were talking while you and Sam were grabbing food, and I realized that even if I asked him it wouldn't be fun. He just doesn't like dancing I guess." Y/N pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. "I'd want him to at least ask me. Then I'd feel like he actually wanted to dance with me." Now everyone was giving Y/N a sympathetic look so she buried her face in her knees. Abby gently rubbed her back
"Well, I think you should just go for it, man. The sooner you guys get together the better, right?" Y/N shrugged
"I mean we've got plenty of time, there's no real hurry." Hailey rolled her eyes
"With that attitude, you'll be old and gray by the time you tell him how you feel!" Y/N hid under her blanket and pleaded
"Can we move on? Please!" They relented and stopped being nosey. "Do you have any drinks here? Sober is not the mood tonight." Y/N asked Emily. Emily nodded and pulled out some vodka and a variety of things to mix it with. "Now we're talking." Y/N thought as she rubbed her hands together in excitement.
