Late in the morning, I wake to find Carlos' arms wrapped tightly around me. He's sleeping soundly, making the sweetest, funniest little noises.
I wriggle out off his arms and immediately feel the pain in my ass. Fuck, he really didn't hold back.
But I like it rough, and oh, he delivered. I head into the bathroom and undress, letting the cold water cascade over me as I quickly freshen up.
Soon, I'm in the kitchen, preparing a delicious breakfast and setting the plates on the table by the couch. Just as I'm about to head to the bedroom to wake Carlos, I notice the bed is empty.
"Carlos?", I call
Where is he? Maybe in the bathroom?
Empty. Seriously? Did he really leave without saying a word? Is he trying to mess with me? Today's my last day off before I have to go back to work tonight — I was looking forward to spending it with him. But clearly, that's not going to happen. It's like he doesn't even care.
Annoyed, I drop onto the couch and turn on my series, pretending the TV will distract me. While I'm at it, I eat his plate of breakfast too. I made it for him, after all. And this is how he thanks me? By disappearing without a word?
I tell myself I won't let him get to me. I won't waste my energy being upset. Let him do whatever he wants — I don't care.
But who am I kidding? Of course I care. It stings more than I want to admit. I went out of my way to make breakfast, to plan the day for us and he just . . . left. No explanation, no goodbye. The disappointment settles in my chest, heavier than I expected.
Still, I can't help but wonder why. Whatever pulled him away better have been something important. If not, he's going to regret it — deeply.

"Hi baby", Elena calls through all the hustle and bustle in the club
"Hey", I return
"What's wrong?", she asks
"Nothing", I groan tiredly
I have to work for another five hours. How am I supposed to survive that?
