Chapter 1

Hi so this is chapter one, I hope you enjoy it, please give any feedback you have, I want to get better at writing :)

Y/n bucket is Charlie Buckets older brother

He works at the shop down the road from Their home and he is perfectly happy with the life he has, I mean sure he wishes they could have more money but other than that? He's happy

' I'm finished boss! ' you shouted, putting the last can on the shelf

' thank you y/n, you can go home early, enjoy the rest of your evening ' the shop owner said

' oh! Thank you ' you said with a grin

You left the shop and set off home, you got met with your father, who was looking very worried on his way home from work

' what's wrong dad? '

' ... nothing son, your home early? '

' oh yah [ insert shopkeepers name ] let me go home early because it's not busy today ' you said with a smile

' ah ' he said

From then on the way home you both chatted about random things

When you both finally got to the house, Mr bucket opened the door

' evening buckets! ' you both said at the same time

You got an echo of ' evening ' back after a few seconds

' have you got anything for dinner? ' mrs bucket asked her husband

' no.... Sorry love ' your father said said

' ah well, cabbage soup it is then ' she said with a smile

' I've got something you'll like Charlie ' Mr bucket said

Charlie went up to his father and went to see what he had

He then took out a load of messed up toothpaste caps

' Yes!!! This is just what I needed! ' Charlie grinned

' what is it Charlie? ' you asked kindly, from your seat next to grandpa George sorry but he's one of my favourite characters, he reminds me of my grandad ( except I was my grandads favourite 😌 )

' a head for mr wonka! ' he grinned, taking out the giant wonka factory made of toothpaste caps

' finished! ' Charlie laughed

' it's quite the likeness '

' really? You think so grandpa?' Charlie asked

' I know so, I used to work for mr wonka!' Grandpa Joe said

' you did?!'

' he did ' you, grandma Josephine and grandpa George said

' I love grapes ' grandma Georgina said

You chuckled slightly at that and then went back to listening

Because I'm lazy and it's like 21:30... yeh I'm just lazy

After grandpa Joe had finished his story, Charlie was sent to bed

Once they knew he was asleep, your parents sat you down and said they needed to speak to you

' ok, y/n... your father has lost his job... ' your mother said

' what?! Oh no! Why?!' You exclaimed

' because they've got a fancy new machine to put the caps on instead ' your father said sadly

' ... I can try get a second job? ' you said after a minute, knowing you were more likely to get a job because there isn't anything like that on your record for anyone who doesn't know, most companies make you resign so you don't get a mark on your record, that would make it less likely to get a job

' you already work all day, you can't work at night as well! ' your mum said

' well I could ask [ insert bosses name ] to give me more hours ' you asked

' ... that might work but we can't expect you to do that y/n, you're only 27' your father said

You had agreed to stay there to help them with the bills, also because you wouldn't have enough money to pay rent for yourself

' well we can talk about this more in the morning, we just thought we would let you know ' your mother said with a sad smile

' ok, mum, I'm going to bed now '

' ok, goodnight son ' your mother and father said at the same time

You went up to the lost and layed on the mattress across from Charlie's and layed there staring at the ceiling trying to figure out how to help your parents

You eventually fell into a dreamless sleep
