Canster filters are for big tanks above 100 gallons. They provide great filteration for the big tanks too. They have loads of biolagical, chemical, and mechanical filteration. There are some downsides though. First, they get full of water so when you hav to clean it out, it makes it extra heavy. Second, They are super expensive! For one that goes up to a 55 gallon, it cost $100! Personaly, I thing that canaster filters are for experienced fishkeepers .
