Chapter Four
My alarm blared to life, making me groan in annoyance. I reached over Sierra’s unconscious body and hit the snooze button, she didn’t even flinch. I dragged my sleepy form out of bed, regretting that I’d let her sleep in with me, she hadn’t stopped kicking me all night; then there was the snoring, the talking, and the list goes on. She’s a really bad sleeper.
I grabbed my clothes off the top of my bare dresser and stumbled into my bathroom, running into the door on the way. I used the cold water as a way to wake me up, and when it jolted me out of my stupor I squealed and spun the hot tap on as fast as I could, almost slipping over in the process. I took my time, knowing that I would be the only one awake, and let myself think. About how I was going to act, how I was going to talk and walk. I mean sure I’d been over all of this with Sere and Kenna, but it was different now, I was going to be on my own.
I dried off and pulled on my black harem pants and a plain white t-shirt. As stupid as those pants looked, they were so comfortable I didn’t even care if I looked like a clown. I blow dried my hair, letting it wave instead of straightening it, and tied it up before putting on some quick makeup. I was only wearing mascara and lip gloss, and I knew Sere would freak out and probably hit me, but I didn’t have the energy to put in any more effort.
I slouched out of the bathroom and smirked at what I saw. Sierra had flung both of our pillows off the bed, one was on my dresser and the other had gotten caught on my ceiling fan by its case, and she had also managed to get my doona all the way over to the door. She was currently laying face first in the middle of the mattress, her arms and legs spread out and hanging of the edges as she snored her head off. I resisted the urge to burst out into laughter and instead picked my pillow up off the dresser, walked over to the bed and started pelting her with it.
“Hughlflugglvsch!” she moaned, rolling over as she tried to push me away. When her eyes adjusted and she realised what was going on, she grinned and went to grab her own pillow, except she couldn’t find it. I smirked.
“Looking for that?” I asked, pointing at the ceiling. She stared up, and her mouth dropped open.
“What did you do?!” she shrieked at me, standing up and jumping on the bed as she made a grab for it. It wasn’t gonna work, my ceiling was way too high for either of us to reach.
“Me?” I laughed. “I was in the shower, I walk out and you’ve demolished my room in your sleep!” I said.
“Seriously?” she asked as she stopped jumping for a second to look at me. I nodded and she looked smug.
“How the hell did I manage that?” she smirked. I shrugged. “Boy I’m talented,” she grinned. That was when I burst out into a fit of laughter, which Sierra didn’t appreciate one bit. She snatched the pillow from my hands and started whacking me in the face with it. I crouched over, shielding my face and doubling over in laughter at the same time, so she started thumping it repeatedly against my back. By now we were both shrieking with laughter, and were rudely interrupted by my mother bursting open the door and staring at us.
