(almond's pov)

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing non-stop. Moving felt like a chore as I struggled to get up soon realizing I had slept in. I picked up the phone to incoherent yelling, "sorry.." I managed to mutter no matter how clueless I was.  "Well you better come quickly or it's overtime." The last sentence made me jump as I hurried to get ready and out the door. Before I could say anything they hung up,I was rushing out the door with my coat nearly hyperventilating. As I arrived at the office I was nearly dragged into what seemed to be an observation room full of cameras. I could only watch as everything blurred together yet the camera's were clear as day. I watched as yelling and protesting was filmed until finally roguefort was dragged into sight. I watched in horror as he was forced into view seemingly intoxicated. I felt like crying but I could only watched as a rope was tightly fastened around his neck soon being hung up. I listened as an insane laughter filled the room through the camera's. Everyone else covered their ears and watched as roguefort struggled to get out even with the hands unbound and a forced smile on his face. His laughter soon came to an end as he passed out it felt sickening to watch, his performance was finished. All of it ended in this. I couldn't say this isn't what I wanted because I'd wished death on him so many times despite knowing i didn't hate him. I felt everything start to slip into rage yet I couldn't move, all I could do was I listened to their endless talking full of happiness and relief before being dismissed. "Get away from me." I said as I slapped the hand away from me not even looking at who. I only walked out as everyone in the room seemed to stare in shock as I realized my boss was standing feet behind me. I continued walking as I felt the anxiety and fear start to show itself. I felt myself begin to drive as everything began to slip,my sight,my breath..my.. conscience.. as I woke up I just stared at the brightly lit room as I found myself back at the gala.. dancing with what seemed to be roguefort. But he was silent, just like everyone else. The song seemed to play on repeat and everything turned into a loop never seeming to stop. It felt relieving to be in what seemed to be my happiest moment and maybe it was all a dream. Maybe it never happened, but it was off. As the music continued nothing felt right, the people started to look more like a small figures in a dancing box. Never stopped, never talking, their eyes not visible from their mask. And soon day after day the dancing continued to push on as I felt myself grow tired and soon scared. Roguefort only seemed to grow paler and I continued to look around unable to move or speak. Everyone around me even the room seemed to fade and age, the guests paler and their breathes faint. The wallpaper desaturated and dusty. Everything worn down even the floor began to show the worn down steps of the seemingly lifeless dancers. It all seemed to tie together like a rope, wearing down but always being held together by threads and pieces. I soon watched the floor turn grey, the paint giving away. The dancers begin to grow frail, never breaking as the cycle could only repeat. It being, the endless masquerade.
