♡as you sit on the train, you think about what just happened. was that real? was it a dream? were you hallucinating? the business card in your hand confirms that none of those theories are true.
the train slows to a stop and the automatic doors slide open. a mob of people forms, both of people exiting the train and entering it. you find your way through the tangle and head for the exit.
you run up the stairs and the crisp air hits you like a ton of bricks. you squeeze your arms close to your chest and begin the walk back to your apartment.
as you walk, nothing fills your brain except the business card and its phone number. you'd be mad to call it, but you couldn't help but feel like you had to. no matter how hard you tried to not think about it.
you entered the apartment building and got into the elevator. you pressed the button with your floor and waited patiently. during this time, you reached for your apartment key in your pocket and felt the business card.
your mind flew back to it, and the decision it came with. you stayed like this until you thought of more important things: dinner.
you unlocked your apartment and entered, flicking on a light. it was freezing in there. turning on the heat made you upset because it costs so much, but it was either that or freeze. you clicked it on and walked into the kitchen.
you opened up the cabinet, which was a few meals away from being bare. your eyes scanned it, and came across something suitable for dinner-a can of vegetable soup.
you opened up the can and poured it into a pot. you placed the pot onto a burner and flicked it onto 7. while you waited for supper, you thought it would be the perfect time to take a shower.
the lights came on in the bathroom and you removed your messy clothes. the water turned on and steam filled the room. you stepped into the shower and let the hot water on your hair and body, which was exhausted and full of worry.
you wanted to stay like that all night, but the water bill said otherwise. you finished up and got into some comfortable clothes; a t-shirt and some old sweatpants. you threw on some socks and re-entered the kitchen.
you took your warm soup off the burner, pouring it into a bowl. as you ate the soup, you thought about the card. finally you snapped, slamming your spoon into the bowl.
"fuck it." you said to yourself and reached for your phone. you grabbed the card out of your coat pocket and dialed the number on the back.
after a few short seconds, someone picked up. there's no sound, so you start the conversation.
"hello? i uh..got your business card today." you say softly. a male voice answers."do you wish to participate in the games? if you do, please state your name and birthdate." he says. "he sounds kind of hot" you think to yourself before swatting those thoughts away.
"uh, jeong ae-cha, october 14, 1992." you tremble into the phone. "go to xxx location at 12:00. the password is red light, green light." the same male voice says before you hear the clicking of a receiver and the dial tone.
you sit there blankly and stare at the wall in front of you. you just did that. well, you have some time; it's only 9 o'clock. you finish your soup stressfully and get up from the table. you sit down on your bed and contemplate life, before throwing on some shoes and hitting the road.
you shut the door to your apartment and hop into the elevator and ride down into the lobby, zipping your coat before exiting.
it's a long walk to the bus station the guy named, but you eventually arrive. as you take a seat on the bench there, you check your phone. the time is 11:47. just had to wait 13 minutes. while sitting, you try to decide if you really want to do this.
before you can make a choice, a van interrupts your thoughts. it has tinted windows and is creepy looking.
it pulls up next to the little bus station and the window rolls down. there is a man in the drivers seat, leaning towards the window. he's wearing a hot pink jumpsuit with gloves. on his face, there's a mask. it's black with a white circle on the front.
the masked guy begins to speak. "jeong ae-cha?" he asks. "yeah, that's me." you say back. "password?" he asks you. "uh...red light, green light?" you ask hesitantly.
he turns away from the window and clicks a button on the dashboard. the back door opens up and he motions for you to get in the car. you step in and notice about 4 others, all asleep.
"how long until we get there?" you ask the masked guy. he doesn't reply and pushes another button.
a white fog rains down from the ceiling. you start to panic a bit, but before you can do anything about it, you feel extremely drowsy and drift off to sleep.
