The black sheep gazed into the dark sky
The stars twinkled and sparked
Throughout the endless sky
It was so big and so vast
She could stare at the sky for hours and hours
And dream of a world beyond the farm of endless misery
She wanted to fly among the birds
She wanted to run with the foxes and the hares
She wanted to explore the great beyond
But she couldn't
She was alone yet again
Her brothers and sisters — gone
Her parents — nowhere to be seen
And her only friend,
The Thanksgiving Turkey,
Drew his last breath
His promise — broken
She closed her eyes
Darkness surrounded her
She hated being alone.
