The theme of this poem is need for acceptance and love. There's also another theme which is heartbreak. It's also a classic poem actually referring to the handsome man, whom Aphrodite and a woman loved. He was killed by a boar, and so Zeus commanded that he would spend the winters with Aphrodite, and Summers with the other woman in the underworld for the rest of his days. So this poem is more like a heartbreaking one, leaving me for someone else. Here is "Adonis" I hope you enjoy it.

Oh! My Adonis, sturdy in feature,
You were benign, your presence releasing the tension,
Trendils of your golden hair adorning your face,
Your presence brightening the sun.

Adonis, but why did you leave?,
Jagging at my heart,
You went down to the underworld,
Spending your days with Aphrodite.

Why must you go?,
For a moment I thought you were "my Cupid",
I thought of you as the god of love,
I thought caring for me was your only purpose.

You beset me,
Perhaps a god is meant to be with his goddess?,
You disarmed me,
I thought you were worthy.

Adonis! You left without a word,
Leaving to the underworld,
Carrying my heart along,
Giving it to Aphrodite.

Perhaps she's more gorgeous than I,
More ready than I,
Leaving that space empty again,
Shutting the door to my heart once more.

The strongest without are really the weakest within,
Alas! My Adonis has gone,
I thought I had a "Cupid",
Perhaps not again.

I long for "space",
Ebbing once again,
Receeding into my subconscious,
Sobs flutter against my chest,
My Adonis has left me for the underworld,
Clinging to his new love, Aphrodite.
