Audrey Smith has one mission: to prove to everyone she's more than a garbage can, allowing people to kick her around and dump in her. Moving out of a household that doesn't have her rock, her best friend, was the first step to achieving everything else on her list. Breaking up with her cheater of a boyfriend was another. Scoring a chance of being the girlfriend of the popular boy in her old school was certain to bring around trust issues. Leaving a bitter taste about boys on her, she tells herself it is unnecessary to look for someone else for support when she already has her best friend. Then why does she find herself interested in Luke Castro, the boy whose name is whispered in her new school's hallways?

Luke Castro has been the firecracker of his school. For an unknown reason, he's been blamed for every fight that happens—whether that takes inside the school campus or out. As usual, he didn't care. As long as his coaches are convinced and he can continue to play on the team, he's happy and satisfied. Luke had taken up basketball as a way of diverting his mind; from small issues like homework to bigger problems involving his personal life which he swore he wouldn't talk about. That all changed when he saw her, Audrey Smith, the new girl at school. He immediately recognized her covering up the broken part of her with a smile. Will he help her get back the shine he sees in her?
