Bella was dead, but she wasn't gone. She was a vampire now. Edward had injected enough of his venom into her to successfully turn her. The waiting was the hardest, but Mavis was entertained by the new baby. Renesmee was adorable, and she loved being around her. Nobody spoke about Jacob imprinting on the newborn. It was weird, but nobody knew how imprinting worked.
Mavis loved Renesmee. She had never been around a baby before but could understand why Rosalie liked them so much. They were cute and helpless. Renesmee was growing quickly, and it was slightly alarming.
The baby was in Rosalie's arms most of the time. Jacob was always close by, keeping an eye on her.
Renesmee turned towards Mavis. The baby smiled at her, causing Mavis to grin widely. Alice watched the interaction lovingly. She was happy that her daughter was showing signs of her old self. The pantry was full of food again, thanks to Esme, who went grocery shopping early in the morning the night after the attack by the wolves.
Mavis pushed off the ground and walked towards Alice and Jasper. "Hey, darling," Alice opened up her arms for the girl. "How are you feeling?"
"Great," she leaned into her embrace. "Much better." Nobody had spoken about the incident. Mavis had thrown a wolf through the air with her voice. She had channeled the sound through her body by accident. "Are Bella and Edward back yet?"
Bella had woken up, but nobody had seen her yet. Edward took her hunting to get her thirst under control before introducing the new vampire to Renesmee. "Not yet," Jasper muttered. "Anytime now."
"Speaking of any time," Carlisle pulled at his sweater. "I can hear them approaching." They were all thrilled to see Bella.
Jacob moved away from the baby. "I'll go out first. See if she can handle me before meeting Renesmee."
"Good idea," he agreed.
"Should I go too," Mavis asked. "I'm human."
Alice smiled at her, "Jacob can handle it." The wolf nodded and jogged down the stairs. Mavis knew her mother was being overprotective, not wanting anything to happen to her daughter. It was a bit ridiculous, but nobody argued with the ideology. After Mavis had passed out, her parents had become more protective. They feared anything happening to her.
Everyone stood up, surrounding Renesmee as Rosalie held onto her. Bella would be inside any moment to meet her daughter. Mavis had just sat down but didn't mind standing up.
Two minutes went by before Jacob ran back into the house. He walked through the group towards the baby. Mavis looked over her shoulder and smiled at the sight of Bella. She looked beautiful in the blue dress they had put her in. Her eyes were red, which was a change. Mavis wasn't used to seeing red eyes. The Cullen's were vegetarians.
"Welcome to the family," Esme greeted her happily.
"You look amazing, Bella," Alice was thrilled.
Mavis stepped to the side, allowing her to pass. "Someone has been wanting to meet you." Carlisle moved away, and Rosalie turned around. Renesmee was in her arms.
Rosalie handed the woman the child. Bella stared down at her in awe. Mavis leaned into Alice, watching the scene unfold. Renesmee placed her tiny hand on Bella's cheek. She was gifted. They had realized that quickly. "What did she just do?"
"She showed you her first memory of you," Edward explained.
"Showed me," Bella was confused. "How?"
"How do I read minds? How does Alice see the future? She's gifted."
Renesmee lowered her hand. "It's only been two days?"
