i gave a small smile to sawyer, who smiled back, and asked over to our table.

"pepper, we've been hanging out a lot recently, and i wanted to give you something to show you how much you mean to me." sawyer said.

"aw, sawyer." pepper said, staring at the pepperoni.

a little boy appeared at the edge of the table

troy was standing right behind him.

"dj, meet the girls. girls, meet dj." troy moved his hands.

"what's up, ladies? you can call me the deej." dj greeted, with a smirk.

"how old are you?" i shook my head.

"yeah, well, with my dad overseas, i've gotta be a responsible role model. so naturally, i brought him here to work on his game." troy explained. "show 'em what you got, little man."

"time to get to work." dj walked off to talk to some girls.

i giggled, watching as he talked to some girls.

"little dude wants to be just like me. that's why i'm gonna ask coach to make him my little buddy in the bulldog buddies program." troy looked back.

i ate a fry from my plate, with a sudden frown. "i forgot i signed up for that shit."
