Chapter 5: The Blue Blur in the Flesh
Station Square, an Hour Later
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, I was really about to see Sonic again. This might be the only thing in the world that put my ever growing crush for Tikal aside.
"He's usually running around here at this time of day." Knuckles said.
"So what exactly does Sonic do now that Eggman's dead?" I ask.
"He pretty much acts like a superhero, stopping crime and that kind of thing."
"So basically a vigilante?" Tikal stated.
"Pretty much. I told him I had a surprise for him and to meet me here."
"Hopefully it won't be too long."
"You that excited?" Tikal teased.
"I made not crush on him anymore, but he's still my best friend, so yeah, I'm pretty damn excited!" I tell her.
"Well then, I better not keep you waiting anymore." A voice said from behind me.
It's him. He's here.
I slowly turn around and sure enough, Sonic was standing right behind us.
"Sonic?"
"Long time no see, Ames." He greets with his usual cocky grin.
"Sonic!" I yell in happiness as I tackle him into a hug.
"I see your grip is still as lethal as ever." He joked.
"I missed you so much, Sonic!" I tell him, on the verge of tears.
"I missed you, too, Amy." He said in a genuine tone.
"I've got so much to tell you."
"About how bad your life has been? Knuckles told me a little bit about it while you guys were on the way."
My ears pin in shame.
"So now you know."
"Amy, why didn't you come find me?"
"It's easier said than done, Sonic. You don't sit still for shit." I tell him. "If I knew where you were, then I definitely would have, but I got scared."
"Scared of what?"
"Scared of what you all would of thought of me. I was too embarrassed."
"Amy, listen to me. We never would of thought that about you. You're not the only person to go through stuff like this. It happens. You just have to be strong enough to beat it and I know you are. Just remember that regardless of what shape you were in, I would never turn my back on you. Knuckles wouldn't either, unless you tried to steal the Master Emerald. Right, Knux?"
"Correct." Knuckles nodded.
"You mean it?"
"Absolutely. And don't think I haven't seen you over here, Tikal."
"I was wondering how long it was going to take." She said.
"Knux said you two were pretty much roommates now."
"Yes. I'm helping her get back into shape and beat her addictions."
"Well, I'm sure you two will make a great team." Sonic said.
"It's still early, but we're making progress." Tikal stated.
"Yep. She's been great so far." I tell her.
"Well, that's awesome. Also, Knuckles, how's Rouge?"
"She's alright."
Tikal whispers in my ear.
"I think you need to tell him."
"I think you may be right. Uh, Knuckles, there's something I need to tell you, and you're not going to like it." I say.
"What is it?"
"Rouge is actually cheating on you with Blaze."
"What? That's ridiculous, Amy." Knuckles laughed.
I grabbed his arm and looked him in the eyes.
"She's deceiving you as well as Blaze, and it needs to end today."
Knuckles' expression turned from laughing from a joke to complete anger.
"Take me to the bat." He said through gritted teeth.
