i just got back from the airport??

"finally!" tommy huffed as stevie finally picked up his facetime. "how was the flight?"
"gross—plus my ears were fucking popping the whole time" stevie repositioned her phone so he could see her better.
"i'm sorry, just another reason why you should've stayed"
"i know" she pouted playfully, "but i did get to read that pamphlet"
she brought up the university of brighton pamphlet tommy had slipped into her bag. he'd spent the last few days fantasising about a life where they lived in brighton together, but didn't want to pressure her or stop her from pursuing larger opportunities in the US.
"oh yeah? what'd you think?"
"i love it" she gushed. "y'know my grandparents were talking about moving to brighton"
"seriously? oh my god—they have to now—it's the law! we can have them over for wednesday night dinners" he awed.
"wednesday night dinners?"
"i dunno, i just like the way it sounds" he shrugged, picturing it in his head.
"you know what, so do i" stevie chuckled at the boy, trying to ignore the pang in her chest—this was gonna be hard.
"miss you" he reminded her.
"miss you more" she frowned, "i'll be back soon."
"promise?"
"promise, now play game pigeon with me" she chuckled lightly, causing him to smile and comply. it wasn't ideal, but they were determined to make it work.
