Later that night...
The whole family was eating together, Mia, Maria, Anita, and Bernardo.
"So Mia was color is your dress" asks Bernardo.
"It's light pink" she says not meeting his eyes because she knows what's about to come next.
"I think I have found you a date" he says.
"ugh no esto de nuevo, no quiero una cita estoy bien oh dios mio" Mia says rolling her eyes. - Translation - "ugh not this again, i dont want a date im fine oh my god"
"Oh, sí, bueno, ¿qué pasa cuando un estadounidense se te acerca y te pide que bailes cuando estás parado allí luciendo tonto? He says getting angry. - translation - "oh yeah well what happens when an americam comes up to you and asks you to dance when your standing over there looking dumb"
"Speak English" Antia says clapping her hands.
"You know what Bernardo I'm 19 and I can do what I want and... and I'm going to go with an American" Mia says standing up.
"NO, you are not" Bernardo says slamming his hands on the table.
"Not as long as your in my house"
"I pay rent here just as you do!" Mia says talking loudly.
Before he can start screaming at her so goes in her room and slams the door.
Mia bellyflops on her bed and groans.
"Someone had a bad night"
She peeks up her head and low and behold Riff is standing outside her window coming in, amazing.
"What are you doing here are you crazy" she says whisper yelling.
"Yeah" he says laughing.
She pushes him out her window and she climbs out too.
"What are you going here, my family is in there" she says pointing to the window.
"Well I wanted to see you" he says with that same cheeky grin.
"Well this wasn't a great time" she says.
"Oh yeah I know I heard the whole thing, so what American is going with you" he says laughing.
Which in return she smacks his arm.
"I don't know yet I don't even want to have a date"
"I mean you could always-" before he can finish she cuts him off.
" I know what your going to say and no" Mia says crossing her arms.
"Awww come on it will be fun we will do some dancing" he says laughing and doing bad dancing on purpose
"And besides now that I realized your brother is Bernardo he sure as hell is going to hate me considering I'm the leader of the jet"
"No cursing" she says and smacks his arm again
"Sorry, sure as heck" he says being sarcastic
"And Bernardo isn't my brother he's my sister's boyfriend but he's like a brother to me"
"My bad missy" he says laughing again
"No no no I'm not going with you Riff" Mia says
"Fine how about this if I can win you over in the week before the dance will you let me take you" he asks smiling
Before she can talk Bernardo yells from the kitchen
"Mia ve a la cama ahora" - translation - "go to bed now"
"Si bueno" she yells back slightly annoyed
"Riff I have to go" she says about go to go in her window but a hand pulls her back
"Please let me win you over for the dance if I don't you'll never have to see this handsome face again promise" he says
"fine okay if you win me over you can take me to the dance"
He smirks at her
"Meet me at doc's tomorrow at around 5 okay"
"Okay I will now go please before someone sees you"
And with that he climbs off the balcony
"Bye Mia" he yells
"Shhhhh" she starts laughing
"Bye Riff" she whisper yells back
As she goes back inside she wonders what they are doing tomorrow and in some way she's excited but she would never tell him that.
