LORELEI

I WOKE up to the morning light permeating through my window. I don't draw my curtain close every night para salubungin ako ng liwanag tuwing sunrise. Maganda rin kasi ang view kapag gabi. I could see the landscape of Clark City.

Since I started working, I got my own place at Clark Towers, a high-rise condominium at the very heart of the city. Nasa nineteenth floor ang unit ko, number 1912. It's a studio-type room which was perfect for a solo occupant like me.

I used to stay at my aunt's apartment near Clark High. Doon ko naging roommate si Loki. I was uncomfortable at first lalo na't hindi ako comfortable sa presence ng ibang lalaki. Loki minded his own business, I minded my own. So staying with him under the same roof was tolerable... until the time came when we had our first real conversation. He showed off the sharpness of his observational skills and I didn't appreciate it.

Sometime that same year, I transfered to a condo unit where Alistair was also staying. My late father bought that unit for me. I had no intention of moving to that place, but something happened so I decided to live there until I finished college at Clark University.

I rubbed the sleep off my eyes before I got off my bed. Nagtungo ako sa mesa at kinuha ang remote control. I stretched my right arm and pointed it at the TV installed on the wall.

His fur was as white as snow, that's why I named him "Snowball." Sorry if I wasn't that creative with the pet name, but it's the most appropriate based on his appearance.

"Good morning, baby~" I greeted him. Snowball stood and let out a soft meow at me.

I had a pet cat before. Her name's Freya. Actually, hindi lang ako nagmamay-ari sa kanya. She's the adopted cat of the QED Club. One day, she was badly injured so I decided to bring her home and nurse her back to health. Since then, Freya stayed with me, then with Tita when I moved out.
