We were dismissed for a one-hour lunch break. The second Present Mic finished his announcement, a bunch of the girls from Class 1-A hurried over. I found myself surrounded by Uraraka, Yaoyorozu, Tsu, Ashido, Jiro, and Hagakure. They pestered me with questions and shouted words of encouragement.

"Kaneko, that was amazing!" "I didn't know you were that powerful, Kaneko!" "Hey, Kaneko, how come you didn't show off your skills in class?"

I scratched the back of my head. "Oh, um, well, if I'd done that, then I wouldn't have had an advantage. It was just a little strategy. I didn't mean to trick anyone, I swear. I just wanna win this thing!"

"At least you still have a chance," sighed half of the girls.

"Anyway, we were wondering," began Uraraka. "If you'd like to get lunch with us? After seeing you do so well, we realized we don't really know much about you. Though, I suppose none of us really tried."

She held out her hand. "So, we'd like a do-over. Will you join us?"

"Of course!"

I didn't even hesitate to take their offer, finalizing the pact with a thankful shake. They were finally warming up to me! Even if it did take a little showing off of skills to get me here. Listen, I'd take what I could get. Beaming, I began following them out of the arena and to the cafeteria. As we neared the exit, I spotted Izuku and excused myself for a moment.

"Izuku!" I shouted, waving at him as I ran over.

His face turned a little red at the sudden attention. "Satomi! What is it?"

"Oh, uh, I just wanted to make sure that you and your mom were still good to take me in after the festival today. I know I've thanked you already, but this really does mean a lot to me."

"Yeah, no problem." He looked as though a weight had been lifted off his chest. What, had he thought I was coming over to yell at him? "It was the least we could do given the circumstances. I'll warn you now, we don't have much space, but we managed to find a way to make things fit."

        "Great! Thanks again, Izuku!"

I waved once more as I headed back over to the girls.

"What was that about, Kaneko?" Uraraka asked.

Tsu chimed in. "And why are you guys on a first name basis? Ribbit."

A faint blush covered my cheeks as I realized what they were implying. We joined the lunch line.

"Well, to answer Tsu's question first, I used to live four doors down from Izuku's apartment. We've been friends since we were super little, so it only makes sense to be so personal. And then, Uraraka, I was just making sure I was all set to go over to his place later. UA sent all of your families a notice — maybe five days ago? — detailing the fact that I needed a place to stay.

"I don't currently have anyone out there waiting for me, and the school can't continue to have me staying in Recovery Girl's office every night. So they asked your guys' parents. The Midoriyas were the first to agree, and so that's where I'm headed."

"I remember Mr. Aizawa giving us a letter to take back home, but I just thought it was boring paperwork stuff for our parents," Ashido said. "No fair! I would've killed to have a sister!"

I laughed at her whining. "Sorry. First come, first serve."

When we'd all gotten our meals we found a table and idly chatted and gossiped. It was nice to finally have a group of people to just talk to and be friends with. Admittedly, it was difficult to maintain my side in a conversation, but I did my best. Big surprise, being isolated from the world for ten years and then added into a class late didn't make me knowledgeable when it came to 'girl talk'.
