𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨

You eventually found your way back to the town after a long trek, and it only occurred to you now how far the river actually was from the town. Did you really walk that long? You were sure it was only a quick moment.

Maybe the headaches were starting to get to your senses. Nothing from this day was making any sense to you, and it honestly wouldn't surprise you anymore if the buzzing in your head came back.

You were surprised though that the boy bothered to look for you that far, it seemed like too much work to look for someone you didn't know— but maybe that's just you. You still felt irked at the incident that happened earlier, and you couldn't help but replay the moments before you fell into the river. What was that boy? He apparently knew Mirabel, so was he apart of the Madrigal family?

You had your ruana slung over you shoulder now, as you couldn't handle the feeling of it wrapped around your body all cold and sticky. As you trudged once more toward the Madrigal house following the same route you vaguely remembered you and the Guzmáns took, you couldn't help but keep your head down as a number of the townsfolk focused their gazes on you.

You felt extremely nervous, but you honestly couldn't blame them though, even you would be curious of an unfamiliar girl walking along the street with dripping wet clothes and hair.

You grumble under your breath, silently cursing at the situation you got yourself in. You were already worried if Mirabel would still be willing to see you, how would she react now that you had to burden them once more? Would they even spare some clothes for you? Your escape wasn't exactly planned, so you had no belongings whatsoever other than the ones on you.

Whatever the answer would be though, you continue to march forward, deciding to trust that the boy's words earlier were true and that Mirabel was truly looking for you.

As you walk up the hill and toward the Madrigal house, your gaze solely focused on it, you felt the same dread from earlier slowly spawn in your chest once again. The same fear that you felt when you first saw their magic itched in the back of your heart. You force down the feeling, however, despite the protests of your nagging thoughts in the back of your head.

You pull on the collar of your blouse with a finger, suddenly feeling stuffy and anxious, it felt like it was suffocating. Your ears perk up as you hear the sound of your name being called in the distance, and your eyes shoot toward the direction of the voice.

Above the hill and to your right was Mirabel, looking frantic as she had just emerged from the shrubs in the forest. "[Y/N]!" She called once again, relief flooding her face as she sprints down the hill toward you.

She stumbles abruptly in front of you, catching herself from going down the hill further. She bucks her legs and rests her hands on her knees catching her breath before standing up straight once again and looking at you with a smile of relief. "[Y/N], I was so worried fo—whooaat happened to you?" A confused look befalls her face as she finally notices your drenched and pathetic state.

You stand there awkwardly as you take your ruana from your shoulders into your arms, feeling insecure. "I, uh, fell into a river." You mumble quietly, your gaze looking down and your face slightly wincing as you anxiously anticipate Mirabel's reaction.

You slowly look up after a few moments when you noticed Mirabel made no movements. "How?" She asks, concern lacing her voice, and you examine her face that only held a look that matched her tone.

"Ay, nevermind!" She suddenly exclaims with a shake of her head before you could begin to answer her initial question. She moves beside you and hovers a hand behind your back as she starts ushering you up the hill and toward the house.
