Maddie - 8

It had been another long day at the Institute in New York, the Shadowhunters had taken down yet another demon that made its way into the city. Izzy was heading to the training room with Clary, Magnus was helping with another case, Alec had been going to his office as Jace was heading to his room to change.

Suddenly flying past him was his now eight-year-old daughter, Maddie. The Shadowhunter couldn't help but smile. His children were his world. He had his precious little girl and his youngest son, Max. He couldn't help but name his son after his brother. His son was currently with his mother for a visit. Maddie had just returned from visiting her grandmother.

It pained him that the only grandparents his children would ever have would be his parents. He knew Magnus' mother would have loved them to death. Asmodeous on the other hand, the evil bastard would try and find a way to use his children against Magnus.

Maddie had still been learning to get her powers under control but could still often get out of hand. Lately the young girl had taken a lesson in levitating and flew just about anywhere. When she flew past her father Alec smiled and bent down catching her making him go back a little.

"Woah there my little speed demon, what have we told you about flying inside?" Alec asked, a smile on his face.

"Not to do it because I can get hurt or hurt someone else" She answered, repeating the mantra they had told her probably a hundred times.

"That's right and I want you to walk. Until you have more control of your powers I want you to walk. Alright sweetheart?"

"Yes daddy"

Alec kissed her head. "That's my girl. Go on and stay out of trouble"

"I will daddy"

Alec had ruffled his daughter's hair and she skipped away going to look around trying to find something to do. As she skipped around she had heard a small conversation.

"She doesn't belong here, she's not one of us"

"Maddie's only here because of Alec, she'll never be a true Shadowhunter. If anything she's a bastard creature"

Tears had clouded her vision and sobs escaped her pouty lips as she began crying, her feet levitated off the ground as she flew through the halls. With her powers still out of control she had made everything shake and levitate around her including some of the other Hunters.

When Jace, Izzy, Clary and the others felt themselves off the ground they began looking for the threat on the screens but nothing showed up.

"If nothing is coming up, why are we floating?" Clary asked.

Something in Izzy's head clicked. "Maddie"

"That would be my guess, Magnus wouldn't have done this" Jace agreed.

Suddenly they all had dropped to the floor hard and covered their ears when they had heard a loud piercing cry. When Alec had heard it instantly he recognized it as his daughter and he ran to find her. Magnus had also heard the cry as he was walking back and knew it was his daughter he had taken off to find her.

Maddie had ran to her father's office and hid under the desk, thankfully Alec was close by and saw her run to his office and he followed her inside. As soon as he had been inside he heard sniffing and sobbing.

"Maddie? Baby what's wrong"

Instead of a response he was answered by a sob and whimper, Magnus had rushed into Alec's office. He had a feeling whenever they had gone to the Institute and Maddie was upset she'd hide in Alec's office. It was one of her safe places, especially when she got sideway looks from some of the other Shadowhunters. Jace, Izzy, Clary and Alec made it clear to leave Maddie alone or they would face their wrath.
