"it's been difficult lately." i sribble on a napkin to leave on the table of the café we are sitting in. before he comes back from the toilette i add: "again. sorry."

i leave as fast as i can, similar to a whimpering wisp that needs to get away from him. not because he is hurting me but because i am hurting him. it is terrible to see his heart tremble under my fingertips, to see it crumble between my hands. this has been going on for too long. i wait for my uber. i get home. i leave the city.

may he never see me again.
may he be safe from me.
i put my heart on my lips and then, just eat it.
may it never see daylight again.

A/N:
just a little prose that doesn't necessarily fit the collection's theme
