(For future reference, here is what an ocelot looks like for those who may not know. The picture is not mine. All rights go their respective owners)

(And one more FYI, this is not a "furry" type of story. The reader's character is fully human, they just have the ability to transform/shapeshift into an ocelot, then back into a human. No anthropomorphism here. It is purely a creative choice on my part, so absolutely no offense meant to those who are "furries" (you do you), it's just a personal choice of mine. With these things in mind, here's the next chapter)

Bruno's POV (And ever so slight time skip)

As (y/n) emerged from the restroom wearing the dress Mirabel had made for her, I felt my stomach do a backflip for some unexplained reason. And as she did a light twirl in the garment I could see that she looked extremely happy. Her eyes seemed to sparkle and her face was adorned with a beautiful smile. As if my back flipping stomach wasn't enough, I felt my face get slightly warm. It was as if seeing her recovered and in no physical or emotional pain made an almost overwhelming feeling surge throughout me. I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was, but all I knew was that it was a good feeling.

"I wonder how long it has been since she has felt this happy? Come to think of it, she never said how long she had been on the run. Maybe I should ask her about...... no. Not now. I will not spoil the moment by bringing up her past. If she wants to tell us more, then she should have the freedom to do so in her own time when she feels ready."
As I pulled myself out of my own thoughts, I saw that (y/n) and Mirabel were looking at me. Mirabel in particular seemed to be trying to silently tell me something. Her eyes were flickering from me to the direction of (y/n) and her head was also twitching in the (h/c) woman's direction as well. I looked at my youngest niece quizzically before I understood what she wanted me to do.

"You look absolutely asombrosa in that dress (y/n)." I said enthusiastically.

"Gracias, Señor Bruno." She answered as she looked at the garment fondly. "I can't remember the last time I wore something like this."

3rd person POV
Mirabel could sense that the (h/c) female may not be ready to elaborate further, so to avoid the situation becoming awkward she spoke up.

"Tio Bruno, shouldn't we get on with the tour? We still haven't shown her around the village yet, and didn't you say you had some friends for her to meet?"

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot!" He replied. "Allow us to finish your tour of the Encanto, (y/n)!"

As the three of them walked along the halls of La Casa Madrigal, Bruno abruptly stopped in front of some potted plants that flanked another painting. He then knocked on the picture in a pattern (think of the way he does "knock knock knock knock knock knock on wood" in the movie) before he moved the corner of the painting. All of a sudden, a medium sized brown rat appeared from the other side. The (h/c) female watched in awe as the rodent scurried up Bruno's arm before coming to rest on his shoulder.

"(Y/n), this is Mateo. Him and his family were my only companions for a time when I was living in the walls of the Casita."

"Oh, so this is what Mirabel meant by "some friends." (Y/n) said as she observed the scene before her.

Bruno nodded hesitantly. "Yes, I apologize if they weren't what you expected. And I've been told that many people don't like rats, and given that you can transform into an ocelot, and wild cats prey on rodents, and I probably should have thought this through, and-"

But his tangent was interrupted by a hearty giggle from the female, who then replied with an understanding smile on her face,
"I don't mind rats at all. And even though I can transform into a wild cat, I've never actually hunted for food. I've only foraged for edible plants when I could. So I can assure you, there is no need for you to feel unsure. It's very nice to meet you, Mateo." She said as she held her hand out to the small animal, who then proceeded to cautiously sniff it before scampering off of Bruno's shoulder and onto (y/n)'s. At the sight of his companion's apparent liking for the female, Bruno breathed a sigh of relief. He then opened the painting again and called out,

"ITS OK, GUYS! YOU ALL CAN COME OUT NOW!"

At those words, at least 15 more rats spilled out of the wall and came to greet the newest addition to La Casa Madrigal, who's smile seemed to double as she was introduced to the creatures.
