CHAPTER FIVE

October 25th, damn, just that little bit closer. I have come to realise over this last year that there are some things that just don’t make sense. One of them being Michael Myers, I mean, how can one man create so much hate, so much anger, so much determination to kill. I’ve asked myself this question over the last year and I still don’t have an answer. So here I am standing in Sal’s, and yet, I’ve never even asked myself the most important question, Why did I stay.? I mean, it’s obvious why, but why didn’t I just refuse and leave Haddonfield?.

I can hear a feint voice, a familiar voice. I close my eyes in dread, I know what this means.

“Hello Y/N.”

“Hello Daisy, what do you want?” I cut right to the chase, I don’t want a argument in the store.

She’s looking me up and down, almost as if I’m not worthy to stand where I am.

“My grandfather’s store, I want to buy it.”

No way she can afford this store, It isn’t for sale anyways. Then I see him, some guy, he throws the door open, approaching us both. He wraps his arms around Daisy, kissing her on the neck. Ok, I don’t know if I feel awkward or sick, they are all over each other. Do you think I should tell them I don’t care?.

“It’s not for sale” I exclaim.

“That’s not what I want to hear Y/N. My boyfriend is more then willing to pay you double for this store.”

“No” I say determined.

For those who don’t know, Daisy has been away for ten months, met a very wealthy man, an asshole for short and now here she is, standing in front of me, demanding I sell her Sal’s. Yeah so that’s not going to happen. Sal’s doesn’t have a price, not to me. I love this store and I’m honoured he left it to me, so that’s why Daisy won’t see a penny of it’s success.

“Listen to me, I’m not asking, I’m telling.”

Is she threatening me?, does she actually think that’s going to work?. She does know I came face to face with the Boogeyman, Michael Myers. Why on earth she’d think I’d fear her threats is beyond me.

“As Daisy said, she isn’t asking.”

Oh look, Mr. Money is now trying to tell me what to do. I wonder if it would take more then one punch to leave him dribbling on the floor?. But unfortunately, being the owner I can’t do that, I don’t want to give them any reason to sue, or trash this place  daisy doesn’t care about Sal’s, she cares about the revenue, the income the low rate tax of Haddonfield. She’s changed, or maybe she was always this way and I just never knew it. Either way, lover boy isn’t getting away with his threats.

“Now listen, both of you very clearly because I’m not saying this again, Sal’s is not for sale and, if you ever threaten me again, it won’t be good for you, lover boy.”

I can see the white of his knuckles, he’s seething with anger, but we both know he isn’t going to do a damn thing. Not here, not in front of customers, not in front of Daisy. He isn’t going to run the risk of being embarrassed in front of her.

I’m angry Daisy would bring him here, I’m even more angry that she treats Sal’s with such disrespect. I can hear the bell chime at the front door, there she is, Faye. I really didn’t want her to see me like this, I know she can fell the tension in the air, heck the look on my face says it all.

“Y/N are you ok?” she asks concerned.

“Oh this must be your new toy” says Daisy taunting her.

I’m looking at Faye, she doesn’t look impressed by Daisy. Honestly, Faye might be quiet, but I have no doubt that she could really put a hurting on Daisy if needed. Faye doesn’t answer, she’s starring a hole through Daisy right now. I’ve got to break this up before Sal’s becomes a stomping ground.

“Alright Daisy, get out. You and your boyfriend. You’re not welcome here, either of you.”

Daisy looks at me with disgust, yeah like I care. They both make their way to the door, swinging it open as it closes behind them. Faye approaches the counter laughing.

“Now, that was fun, did you see her face?” she says still giggling.

This girl is amazing, she just bluffed Daisy, nothing could make me happier right now. Faye has got some acting chops because it looked like she was getting ready to brawl, UFC style. She’s looking at me again, smiling. I don’t know what to do, should I smile back?, should I kiss her?, kiss her?, what kind of idea is that. Obviously I shouldn’t kiss her. Oh shit, I think I have feeling's for Faye.

Well you had to know this was going to happen, it always happens. Oh thank god, here comes Allyson.

“Have you seen my grandmother?” she asks concerned.

“I did earlier, she was asking about Michael again. Come on Allyson, she keeps scaring the customers and she keeps banging the door every time she leaves the store.”

“Ok, I’ll have a talk with her, just if you do see her, please call me.”

“Yeah, of course, better yet I’ll help you find her.”

Allyson nods her head, I look at Faye before leaving with Allyson and she smiles at me.

We’ve been searching for hours, damn Laurie Strode is a hard woman to find. I have no idea how Michael tracks her down. One last check, one last location. It’s a long shot but she just might be there. Her old house, you know, the one she burnt to a crisp with Michael in the basement.

The drive has been long, she lived so far out of reach. There she is, she’s just standing there. She’s looking at nothing. Allyson and myself approach her.

“Laurie, you ok?” I ask.

“Grandmother?” Allyson asks.

“I can feel him, The Boogeyman. I’m going to kill him, I swear.”

Is this what we drove all the way out here for?, to listen to Laurie ramble on about Michael Myers once again?. I can’t keep doing this, I’m trying to be respectful, but, this is everyday. I want to forget not be remembered by Laurie. We eventually get her back to the car and I say eventually because she would not move. I almost had to pick her up and carry her to the car.

I finally drop them home, 45 Lampkin Lane, they still live there, just waiting for Michael’s return. Jesus Christ, I have got to get more friends, normal friends. On my return to the store I see Dean, a really good friend. He helped a lot with my Michael Myers trauma. He’s also the assistant manger. I look at the time 6:00pm, thank god, home time. Today has been a whirlwind of a day. Daisy, her boyfriend, Allyson and Laurie going missing, this town just gets the better of me sometimes.

I decide to walk home, I need the air. I don’t live that far away anyway, the walk does me the world of good. I turn to my steps, there she is, Faye. She’s sitting on my porch with a six pack of cold ones. She looks at me, she’s holding a bottle in her hand, shaking it at me. I laugh, she knows, she’s a good friend. I join her, we sit and talk for hours, she has me in hysterical laughter. We both are, I know I feel something for her, I just wonder if she does too.
