Night falls upon Haddonfield. Six o'clock and time for closing. The thing I find most strange is it’s a busy day for a lot of businesses but yet they all seem to close before night fall. Only Sal’s and three other stores stay open. I find it remarkable that stores would rather lose business than stay open and make a bit of extra money.

But that’s that the Boogeyman stories can do to people. It’s a shame really because all of these businesses deserve to thrive. I can see the staff packing up and getting ready to leave. I notice Dean looks a little to excited, almost as if he has plans tonight and tonight isn’t the night to be on the streets.

“Dean, come here.”

“What’s up Y/N” He asks, still smiling from ear to ear.

“You going straight home right?”

“No, I have a party a get to.”

My heart sinks into my stomach. Tonight isn’t the right tome to be attending a party, especially with a crazy person on the loose. Dean looks at me confused he rushes from the store before I can say anything else. He knew I was going to try and talk him out of it.

I feel a hand rub off my shoulder

“He’ll be fine. He’s a smart kid. Come on, let’s have those drinks” says Daisy.

We make our way to the bar, it’s a little quiet tonight. Of course it is. Michael Myers still haunts the town of Haddonfield every year. Some people aren’t as afraid or just don’t seem to care anymore. They just want to live their lives and I respect it. A lot of people have lost a lot due to that monster and it’s nice to see people trying to enjoy this festive holiday.

A round of drinks hit the table. There isn’t many of us only five in total. You obviously know Daisy and Max but you don’t know Cara and Betty. Cara is my age, nice girl and an acceptable worker. Betty, a little older, in her late fifties. She’s lovely, she’s like the main cashier at the store. Two fantastic women who really helped me settle in after Sal’s death. They’ve had my back through thick and thin and are irreplaceable.

Another round goes down the hatch. I have to pace myself, I almost forgot Faye will be joining us. It’s getting close to her finishing time. I step outside for a brief moment. The fresh air will do me good. The streets seem quiet, almost as if the whole town is asleep, except for us in the bar. I can hear a brief chant coming from the other end of the street. Just when everything seemed normal. It appears Laurie’s mob is out in full force. It’s like an army on the streets of Haddonfield.

The noise causes a disturbance in the bar, people start to stand at the sidewalk and watch them pass. It’s almost as if they want us to salute them. Like they’re making a difference in Haddonfield. The only difference they are making is going to wake everyone up. They’re so loud it’s unnecessary.

I get it, you want to hunt Michael Myers, but without any sign of murder or a bump in the night, they’re basically hunting a ghost. A shape of nothing that hasn’t come home. I see Laurie in the middle of the pack, I try my best to get her attention.

“Laurie, don’t you think the noise is a bit unnecessary?” I ask, trying to remain calm.

“No I don’t, the louder we are, the more he’ll hunt.”

She continues walking with the crowd. I don’t think her strategy is going to work. Michael hunts in the darkness, hides in the shadows. He isn’t one or one versus twenty.

Laurie should know that. Some of those people are going to get hurt I can feel it and if they get hurt that means a longer night for Faye. I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn quickly to see Lindsey Wallace standing behind me.
