October 31st 2022

So here we are, Halloween. The most infamous twenty-four hours in the history of Haddonfield. The smallest task leaves you looking over your shoulder on a day like today. I have mixed emotions, on one hand I have Faye, great woman and I couldn’t be happier. On second hand I have Michael Myers who may or may not be lurking in the shadows somewhere. All I know is that if he does resurface tonight, I’m going to take him out.

Myself and Faye are turning the corner, we make our way toward the bridge when we both see yet another dead fox hanging from the rafters. News reporters are everywhere, vans block the bridge. I notice Dean at the back of the crowd. He was supposed to ne at work, but I guess with a circus like that no one is getting through. Myself and Faye approach him.

“Hey Dean, what’s going on?” I ask confused.

“Someone found it this morning, they called someone and it spread like wild fire.”

I can’t stop looking at the fox, it’s fucking disgusting, but I can’t stop looking. I notice Faye keeps checking her watch. She grabs my arm.

“Hey listen, I have to go, otherwise I’m going to be late”.

“We can’t go anywhere, bridge is blocked” I respond.

“It’s fine, I’ll the long way, through the park.”

“Can you take Dean with you? I don’t want him seeing this”. I ask.

“Yeah of course” She looks at Dean, “Come on Dean, I’ll walk with you.”

They both head down the path. I look until I can’t see them anymore. I notice the sheriff and Deputy Hopkins taking down the fox. Good, it’s about time. The reporters are everywhere, God, they love a good Michael Myers story. Some of them can’t resist reporting about him.

I look to my left and see Daisy and Mr. Money, I’m sorry he has a name, it’s Max. Daisy looks nervous, I haven’t seen her look like that in a long time. We make eye contact, I can see her sweating from here. She looks at me confused, her eyes getting smaller as she squints. She begins checking around her, looking at bushes that are moving with the wind and starring into Haddonfield town.

A dark grey cloud has descended on the town. People are suddenly concerned, jumpy even. I’m looking around at the people and they have fright, heck I’ll even say I see terror in their eyes. I’m suddenly tapped gently on my shoulder, I turn to see a woman. She has brown hair that curls at the end, a black pencil skirt, white shirt tucked in and black high heels.

“Hi I’m Lindsey Wallace.”

“I know who you are miss Wallace and I don’t do interviews” I say strongly.

For those of you who don’t know who Lindsey Wallace is, she’s one of the children that Laurie was babysitting all those years ago. She barely survived another attack a few years previous. Lindsey then went on to write a book about Michael Myers and actually got a job as a news reporter in California where she covers the Myers story, amongst other things but mainly Michael.

She’s lost her way when she had risen to the top of the media world. She published stories that none of us gave her the right to. She secretly interviewed Laurie and made a lot of money from that interview.

“One interview won’t hurt” she says as she sticks a microphone in my face.

“I’m good, thanks.”

She scurries off into the crowd trying to salvage an interview from the locals. Some of them talk to her, I also think some of them just want to be on camera. I look to my right as I see Laurie and Allyson looking at me from across the mass of people.
