Chapter 37: Overly Protective
Summary: ***NSFW*** Gwyn and Azriel discuss their protectiveness towards each other and Zachius finds a new target.
Gwyn POV
Surprised and thankful for a dreamless sleep, Gwyn tried to recenter and set her new goal for the morning to go about her day as normal as possible. Az, like a saint, didn't pressure her for more information on what caused her to break down. Instead he held her in his arms all night and rubbed soothing circles on her back. She may not have gotten her orgasm like she had hoped for, but this type of intimacy was just as good in her book.
Waking up next to Azriel is something she never wanted to take for granted and for once she seemed to be awake before him. The early morning light just barely showed through the cream colored curtains yet she could make out every detail of his chiseled features. He was truly a work of art. Moments like this, when she got to observe him closely, she wished she had Feyre's painting skills. Instead she just tried to commit each patch of stubble on his skin and every long eyelash to memory.
The soft sheets had drifted down his naked torso in the night. She drank in the sight of the defined muscles of his shoulders and pecs. The inky blank tattoos that curved down his neck and around his nipples, disappearing as they trailed lower. Gwyn was dying to know just how low they went. Did they stop just above the defined v of his hip bones? Or did they venture lower? She hoped she would soon find out. While she loved rubbing and palming him over his clothes. Her favorite way to get him off recently was delving her hand down the waistband of his underwear. She shivered as she remembered the feel of his silken cock, the way her palm didn't quite fit around it as she tried her best to pump him.
Gwyn had memorized the feel of his member, but she hadn't quite gained the courage to unsheath him yet. Knowing that when she did, she would want to go further. The thought however, didn't frighten her as much as she thought It would.
She waited impatiently for Azriel to start stirring before she started caressing his chest. His eyes cracked open as her delicate touch drifted over his nipples and back down, following the trail of hair to his lower abdomen before sliding back up to his collarbones. She watched in satisfaction as his cock stirred under the sheets.
"Good morning, beautiful." He greeted her sleepily.
"Good morning."
"Feeling any better?"
Gwyn smiled softly. "Yes and thank you."
He raised an eyebrow in silent question so she continued.
"For being there for me, anchoring me as I spiraled."
His hazel eyes bore into her. She worried that she would see pity shining in them, but instead they shone with another emotion entirely.
It was love.
"Anytime." He gruffed out, caressing her cheek softly. She nuzzled her face into his open hand.
"You know my plans for last night were vastly different." She tried to say suggestively, but he didn't let her change the subject just yet.
"What changed?" Azriel asked softly and she sighed.
"I went to Tamlin's study last night." When his eyebrows didn't shoot up in alarm she knew her suspicions about his shadows filling him in were correct. "And he tried to put his hand on me, in a comforting manner, but I panicked."
Azriel didn't speak for a moment and Gwyn started to worry that he was mad at her for even putting herself in that position in the first place.
Her worry must have been etched on her face. "Gwyn, I'm not upset you went to Tamlin's study last night. You're a grown adult."
