Vol. 5 Part 3: Rough Reunion

No one's POV:

You had woken up after a 16 hour sleep. During your travels you had pulled dozens of all-nighters so it was good to catch up on sleep. You arose from bed and made your way downstairs.

(Y/N): Hey guys, sorry I was out for so long but I really needed to...

Your voice trailed off as you saw someone... someone you didn't think you'd see for a very long time....

Yang

You came down the steps.

(Y/N): Yang...

Yang didn't speak, instead she slowly approached you. She had a surprised expression, like she wasn't expecting to see you here.

(Y/N) Yang I-

SLAP

Yang had slapped you across the face. It was with her new robotic arm and because of your metal skull, it made a loud metal clang. Yang then turned on her heels and made her way back inside.

(Y/N): Yang wait!

You ran after her and made your way to the back porch where Yang was facing away from you.

(Y/N): Yang please-

Yang: You left me.

(Y/N): You told me too.

Yang: (Turns to you) Because of your secrets!

(Y/N): Yang-

Yang: You lied to me about who you were. And you lied to me about my own mother!

(Y/N): It wasn't like that! I did it to protect you!

Yang: I don't need you to protect me!!

(Y/N): Raven is a monster! She-

Yang: Told me everything!!!

You stopped. You knew what was coming.

Yang: She told me how she trained you. How she got you to kill innocent people.

(Y/N): I was a scared little boy. I would've done anything if I thought I would be safe-

Yang: And she told me how she saw you as a son. She saw you as her child more than her actual child!

(Y/N): I never wanted that!

Yang: But you did want to go on a killing spree!

(Y/N): Hey I was fighting! Fighting to find Adam! FOR YOU! Gods why do you hate me for that!?

Yang: Who ever said I wanted that!?

(Y/N): At least I did something! What were you doing sitting on your ass back home! I decided to do something about it instead of giving up!

Yang just froze. Eventually she turned away.

Yang: Leave.

(Y/N): So you're just gonna tell me to leave again? Is that it? You already dumped me, don't think you can still hurt me anymore than you already have.

You turned around and walked back inside. Unknown to you, Tears started going down Yang's face.

Time Skip:

You were all sitting in the living room. You were standing in the corner. Away from Yang.

Weiss: So, the Maidens. Magic. Salem. It's all true?

Qrow: Uh huh.

(Y/N): Well fuck me.

Ozpin: Miss Xiao Long, is this more or less what your mother told you?

Weiss: For the most part.

Yang: You forgot something. You forgot to tell everyone what you did to Qrow and my mother.

Jaune: What is she talking about?

Qrow: Oh, great.

Ozpin: Hm, that's not a secret I thought she would give up so easily. Your mother must trust you a great deal. My ability to reincarnate, though a curse, isn't without a few key benefits. Much like the Maidens, I too possess a certain... magical power. Using this power, I was able to gift the Branwen twins the ability to see more, to move freely and be unburdened by their natural bodies. I... well... gave them the ability to turn into birds. *chuckles* Rather ridiculous sounding out loud, isn't it?

Ruby: Uncle?

Ren: You turned them... into birds.

Nora: Alright, now you're just messing with us.

Jaune: What else is new?

(Y/N): He's telling the truth.

Everyone looked towards you.

(Y/N): Raven has the ability to change into a bird. Though she never said how she could.

Yang: Why would you do something like that? I mean, what is wrong with you?

Qrow: Yang, calm down. We made a choice. We wanted this.

This caused Yang to calm herself.

Ozpin: *to Qrow* May I? Granting this power to them was no trivial task, and I can assure you it was not done frivolously. I required assistance in gathering information on Salem's plans, as well as searching for Maidens when their hosts became unclear.

Ruby: Ok, so, have you done this with others? Like General Ironwood, Professor Goodwitch, or even (Y/N)?

You gave Ozpin a questioning look.

Ozpin: As helpful as that might be, unfortunately, it is not that simple.

(Y/N): That's a shame, it sounds cool.

Ozpin: You see, my power is finite, and if I'm being honest, dwindling. The amount that I gifted to Qrow and Raven was, all things considered, rather miniscule. You see, centuries ago, I sacrificed a great deal of magic to four young women, who I hoped would use my gift for good. They were the first Maidens. (everyone is silent for a moment) Miss Xiao Long, it was never my intention to lie to you. To any of you. There are just some matters that I prefer to... "play close to the chest". I believe that's how you phrased it?

Qrow: Yeah.

Ozpin: Everyone has a choice. The Branwens chose to accept their powers and the responsibilities that came with them. And later, one of them chose to abandon her duties in favor of her own self-interest. Now, all of you have a choice. If anyone wishes to leave, now is the time. There's no shame or disgrace in abstaining, only in retreat.

*silence*

Ozpin: Very well, then.

Just then, Yang stood up.

Ruby: Yang?

Yang: If Ruby sticks around, then I will too. If there's one thing I know about her, it's that she somehow always knows the right thing to do. But, if we're going to help, if we're going to keep risking our lives, no more lies. No more half-truths.

Ozpin: Understood.

Jaune: So... what now? I mean, what can we do?

Ozpin: Hmm, that is a difficult question. One that I believe is best answered tomorrow.

Jaune: What do you mean?

Ozpin: The road ahead is undoubtedly filled with hardships and peril. However, it's been far too l since you have all been together. *puts his hand on Yang's shoulder* Please, take tonight, enjoy this moment.

Just then Oscar's eyes flash, and Oscar sees his hand on Yang's shoulder. He looks at you who gives him a death glare.

Oscar: Ahh!

Oscar immediately pulled his hand back out of fear of what you would do. This causes everybody to laugh until Nora realizes something.

Nora: Oooohhh. Raven? Qrow? THERE'RE BIRDS!!! Cracked it!!!
