jamie was moving a toy plane around in the air.

"it was awesome!" he called.

"totally." i agreed, remembering just how not awesome the event had been.

"so then i was flying down this hill, and it was like woosh woosh woosh through these cars!" jamie continued to explain to his little sister, jumping up onto the bed for added effect. "and then the sled hit this thing and it was like way up in the air!"

"wow!" sophie called, with a smile.

"and see, my tooth came out." jamie pointed at the empty spot in his smile.

"did you put it under your pillow?" i asked, glancing at the clock.

"yeah! i'm ready." jamie nodded.

"now don't stay up trying to see her, jamie. or she won't come." his mom reminded.

"but i can do it this time! you want to help me, soph? we can hide and see the tooth fairy!" jamie encouraged.

"hide hide hide!" sophie said.

i laughed.

"uh-uh. straight to bed now, mister. say bye to cherry." the woman said.

"see you tomorrow! are you coming to easter?" jamie asked, as he jumped into bed.
