If Gideon is confident that he knows the kind of unsub you're looking for, then who are you to question that? He believes you can give an accurate profile based on the information you have right now, so that's exactly what your whole team is doing. Everyone is eager to hear what you have to say because they want to find three of their own as fast as possible.
"Brooke, Kelly and Polly have been missing for five days. Usually in cases like this, we wouldn't expect to find them alive. However, in this case, we don't believe that to be true."
"The person responsible spent considerable time and energy planning the abduction. He did not do all this work to simply kill the girls once he had them. Otherwise, he would've done it at the Chamber's house. He certainly seemed to know he had the time."
Just then, the door to the police station opens and Peter Chambers walks in. He seems interested in what your team has to say, and he has every right to.
"This unsub had Polly and Kelly both reference 'Friday' in the messages they left for their parents. We think the unsub has something planned for the night of your championship game."
"We are certain the unsub is someone from this community," Gideon adds.
"How do you know that?" Peter interrupts.
"Because, Mr. Chambers, he didn't have your daughter leave you a phone message or a note, did he?"
"Not that I know of, no."
"That's because he knew you'd be out of town for a while. Just like he knew the dump site for the car would eventually be found. Everything points to him giving himself time."
"Time for what?"
"I don't know yet, sir."
"Well, what's been done about it?"
He's getting a little agitated, and that's when JJ steps in so she can take him into a different room to have him calm down.
"Sir, I'm with the FBI. We're going to need some information, so if you could come with me—"
"Wait a minute. If someone from this town's taken my Brooke, I wanna know what's being done about it," Peter cuts her off angrily.
"Yes, I know, sir. If you'd just come with me. I will explain everything. Alright?" Peter sighs and nods, and JJ visibly relaxes. "Thank you."
They both leave the room so that you can resume the profile briefing.
"Predatory abductors like this unsub are intelligent, patient, and cautious. They like to watch everything: the victims, the families, and even the police. He's surely watching us now and may even attempt to inject himself into our investigation," Spencer says.
"We also know that predatory abductors prepare a nest prior to the abduction. A remote cabin, an underground bunker, or a secret secure place that only he has access to. It's designed to confine and conceal his prey once his hunting is done."
"Should we be looking for this nest?" one of the lead officers, Jeff, asks.
"Oh, you'd never find it," you shake your head. "For example, predatory abductor John Jemelske built a sophisticated dungeon complex under a suburban home where he documented every detail of the torture he carried out upon the victims he kept there for three years."
"The man who kidnapped these girls has a relationship or a job that permits him to get close enough to watch them. We must focus on those people who have that access."
"They can be a family member, a teacher, a next door neighbor, and as cliché as it sounds, it could be the person you least suspect."
"One more thing to remember," Gideon quickly adds. "We're looking for someone who was not at the pep rally. Ask the community, I'm sure somebody videotaped it. You can go through the tapes and start eliminating townspeople."
