Thanks to my best bro for the reference

Hello!! I drew Nico di Angelo

Yes that rhymed, because yes, I am just that good

Anyway, I literally love Nico to death (pun unintended and only realized later but greatly appreciated), he's been my favorite since he was introduced, and that was back in elementary school, which is a LONG TIME, HE HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE FOR LIKE A DECADE NOW

That's an exaggeration but someday it will be true

Anyway, the last time I drew him was June 2020, back in...uhhhh my six-fanart chapter, which was that—

"This Took Forever" in my old art book—fun fact, that took FOREVER to find because I hardly ever title my chapters what the art is, because where's the fun in that

Anyway, I decided to draw him again, and here he is:

I would die for this kid.

And yes, I drew him smiling, because I would kill for happy Nico, the kid needs a break Rick please—

Anyway, here's a funny thing about overlays apparently: if you have a lot of desaturated colors and you put super saturated colors over it, they kind of lose their distinctions

I'll show you hold on

See, the distinctions between the browns and greys are much stronger without the overlay—don't ask me why, I don't know

Also wattpad is telling me greys isn't a word but grays is and I have to say that's rather rude because grey is the superior spelling I'm sorry

Anyways, I actually like both of them, I'm a fan of the more desaturated color scheme too

God there is some amazing Nico fanart out there let me tell you guys—

Anyway, getting off track

Guys, I really need a coloring style that I can actually, like...like. Cuz this one is cool and all, but some of the references I was using were just g o r g e o u s and I Do Not know how they do it, they're so pretty and they've got cool textures and blended parts and hard edges and how just how literally how

But this one was interesting, cuz I decided to use a brush called graphite, which I guess is most akin to a mechanical pencil? So that was fun to play around with, um...I don't have much to say about this one except that desaturated colors are fun to mess with, and that I don't spend a lot of time in the yellow-green side of the color wheel, so I should probably start

So yeah! I think that pretty much does it. This one's going up on Instagram, either tonight or on the 28th (Nico's birthday, yes I'm one of those people), but you wattpad peeps get it first cuz you're the best

Hope you all have a wonderful day!
