Cross-Hatching Out Of Spite

You heard me. I'm spite hatching

Now, for context: I'm in Art 2, which means we are learning realism. I'm not a huge fan of realism,  mainly because why would I draw something exactly the way it looks when A. The amount of work and skill that takes are you kidding me and B. I can just look at the thing, it's right there

But anyway, my art teacher is showing us different ways of shading with ink pens—or in my case, a ballpoint pen, because I forgot to bring a sharpie. The three types are, officially: Scribble, Dot, and Line (aka, scumble, something something idk we just did it today, and crosshatching).

Now, she taught us scribbling yesterday, but she wasn't here to teach us the dots and the crosshatching, so she gave us worksheets and sent us into the unknown

And crosshatching cones and spheres and cylinders ands cubes is Difficult. Much more difficult than I thought it'd be

And because of that, I decided to do it some more, because my worksheet sucked so here's me crosshatching a person—cuz everyone knows that doing something a second time but on a more complicated shape is much better 👍

Anyway here's Kenji

Hold on I have two pictures

Kenji in a sweater because he's just a big sweater guy

He's never going to become anything more than an OC but I love him so

Also smiles? Love drawing smiles at the moment, I know that'll change but right now they're very fun if I can get them right

Ummmmmm so yeah. This took so much longer than it should have, 8/10s of the time was spent fixing the stupid sketch I made in my sketchbook that was apparently not proportional or well drawn at all (I can't do traditional art, wish I could but nope)

I still didn't fix all the mistakes because I can see them but I don't know what's wrong something just looks off

Also, not relevant so you guys can skip this, but I am at a point where I just h a t e my coloring style. Like it's actually bad, I genuinely don't know what I'm doing and it shows. My colors are just...hahahahahahahaha. Ignore everything I've ever said about why I choose specific colors because you definitely shouldn't follow any of my advice, please don't I don't think any of it's right

"Chose specific colors" I say as if I don't throw something down I think is okay and then end up adjusting it fifty times

Anyway, that's about it for today. Annnnd I just think I saw a way to fix the drawing

Whatever

Hope you all have a wonderful dayyy
