ten years later, after yumi and her family were living in America, yumi gets a phone call that her grandmother was sick and dying of cancer.
grandma/hachi: yumi, sweetie, come visit your grandmother for sometime.
yumi: grandma, you know what happened ten years ago, i'm not allowed to visit you.
grandma/hachi: but you're a teenager now, don't you want to see your grandmother for the last time?
yumi: grandma, i do want to see you again, but what about hachi shaku sama?
then, suddenly she got a phone call from the hospital.
doctor omni: hello, is this yumi yu?
yumi: yes, this is her, may i help you with something?
doctor omni: well, i'm saying this for your grandmother's sake but, your grandmother didn't make it.
yumi's eyes widened up, when she hung up the phone on the doctor she heard a sound that would haunt her life forever.
