Mouths Speaking

And as the mouths spoke, the world cracked and strained. My head shook without me telling it to, and the spoken words slammed into me. I was breathless. I wasn't in control. For the first time in my life, tears streamed like bottomless rivers down my cheeks. I fell to my knees and my hands turned to metal fists of rage. And as the words continued their assault, their meanings no longer mattered. They had broken my world and all I knew. I was at their mercy, and I would be forever. They took everything and offered nothing.
