Grandpa worked to keep Robbie in the clink, which eased Rowan's mind and mine. Halloween was approaching. Casper and Liam contacted their grandpa about the haunted house and explained my deafness. He made accommodations for me so that I could have fun with everyone.

My brothers and I headed to the store to buy candy and snacks afterward. We finish the night off with horror movies. We weren't accounting for a real-life horror movie to happen.

I stood in the candy aisle, looking at the many bags of candy. Romeo grabbed anything chocolate and tossed it into the cart.

"What are you doing?" I asked him.

"Stocking up on chocolate, which is essential for Halloween and Valentine's Day."

"Says who?"

"Everyone, especially girls during their monthly."

I arched my brow. "What?"

Romeo put his hand on his face and dragged it down. "How did you and Val ever get girlfriends? Neither of you knows anything about women."

"Neither do you. You had one girlfriend, and look how that turned out."

"Sloane was crazy, and I prefer not to remember that bad decision."

"Fair enough."

Val and Rafe walked towards the shopping cart, carrying pop, chips, and popcorn. They set the items in the cart.

"Do you think you have enough chocolate?" Rafe held up a couple of bags of Reese Cups.

"Who doesn't love chocolate and peanut butter?" Romeo asked.

"Someone with a peanut allergy," Rafe said.

Romeo rolled his eyes. Val and I snickered.

"You guys suck." Romeo walked away.

"And you swallow!" Rafe said.

Romeo flipped off Rafe.

"What's up with little brother?" Val asked.

"Oh, he's an expert in women even though he doesn't have a girlfriend," I said.

"Since when?"

"Since recently." I nodded.

Val shook his head. Yeah, something was up with Romeo, but he wouldn't tell us what it was. It'll blow up in our faces because it always does.

We headed to the checkout to pay for our goodies.

Reese and I were decorating the house when Bailey came inside carrying grocery bags of junk food.

"Did you buy out the store?" I asked.

"You would think, but no." Bailey set the bags on the table.

Reese investigated the bags. "Well, you bought the good shit, unlike the twits that buy the lame candy."

"Oh, chocolate and hard candy are a necessity with Halloween." Bailey put up her hand.

"You didn't meet my neighbors. They handed out the nasty candy, like black licorice. Yuck." Reese stuck out her tongue.

Bailey and I laughed. Sage came in a few minutes later, waving around a pamphlet.

"Why are you saluting us as you surrendered to Romeo?" Reese asked.

Bailey and I laughed.

Sage rolled her eyes. "I will never surrender to Satan."
