"i'm home," haknyeon whispered, turning the lights on and gently kicking his shoes off, placing them nicely by the door out of habit.
as he walked, the floors creaked, haknyeon wincing ever so slightly as his every movement caused noise to echo down the hallway and filled the house with unwanted sounds. he neatly placed his backpack in his room before taking a peek into the room next to his.
sat at his desk as per usual, haknyeon couldn't help but release a sigh, his old man still so fixated on a case that had happened years ago. "dad?" he asked but his voice fell on deaf ears, the older man sifting through a million documents while staring at that damn bulletin board that had seen no new changes in a long while.
slowly, he shut the door, doing his best to ensure that he hadn't created a single sound before making his way to the kitchen, his phone in hand.
a part of him always wished for the chance to go back to when it all happened because maybe then, things would be different. maybe his family would, at the very least, feel whole once more. but whenever such thoughts invaded his mind, he forced them out knowing full well that he had to simply live with the outcome and joke his way through it all, building an impenetrable wall around himself that not even the best hackers could infiltrate.
with a sigh, he shook his head, taking his sandwich back to his room and locking himself inside, blocking anyone from ever entering his domain.
