Deena was wearing a simple fit: black denim jacket over an animé-designed shirt, ripped pants, and boots. She took a minute looking for her friends in the bleachers because of the large crowd. She, indeed, caught a lot of people's attention, a common thing for someone passing by given that she was the only one standing out. She didn't mind it at all, besides she was in her territory, but much like the same if she would not be.
"Dude, the fuck is wrong with you," Kate instantly scolded as soon as Deena arrived to the reserved seat for her, to the left. "This is a big event, you literally missed the parade."
Deena was panting, so she gave herself a second before talking back. "Dude, my car almost hit the light post and a homeless kid on the road. Jesus."
Kate gasped. "What? How come?"
"Well, I avoided the dog." Deena shrugged. "I'd rather crash my car than kill that poor puppy. That's why. I, you know, made sure that no one was hurt before I drove here."
"That's why you should be careful next time," Kate reminded her. "Life's short, bitch."
"I know. Where's Simon?"
"He went to see the soccer match. I thought you're going to support your team, too?" Kate replied.
"Well, boys are on the field. After this, I will." Deena sighed. "I really hope they win this time. I doubt our volleyball team will because the Westside team is fire."
"I think the same. If you were in the team, they might win," Kate supposed while taking the horn pump out of her bag.
"The fuck are you doing with that?" Deena chuckled. "I first thought it was a dildo."
Kate slapped her best friend's arm. "Shh. I'll have to give my all cheering for my former squad, duh? I still have time to prepare for the event's phase two tomorrow." She took another one from the bag. "Here's yours by the way."
"Okay." Deena giggled, taking it. "I'm down with this. I can't really howl or scream because, bad news, I'm gonna be singing tomorrow night."
Kate's head turned to her, surprised. "Really? What happened?"
"Rico was rushed to the hospital yesterday because of food poisoning. No one's gonna do it, so they chose me. I arranged the song they were gonna have a duet in. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna nail it."
"Hell you would." Kate flashed a smug.
"I'm still not used to Alice holding a camera and like, you know, filming around." Deena traced her friend's path, walking by the edge of the bleachers, bottom to the middle. "She's doing great, though. She holds the camera with the right energy. I'm proud of her."
