BRIELLE'S POV

"So what you work two jobs?" Clay asked as they each pushed one girl on the swings

"Well yeah I have to pay for these two somehow" I said. The past half an hour felt surprisingly normal. It felt nice having what we had years ago although it's different, everything is different.

"And they are in school?"

"Part time yeah. The days they aren't in school they end up going to a nice daycare just down the road from my place" I say as he nods his head

"but on fridays i'm off so those days i do activities with them at home"

"are you sure you are okay with me having them tomorrow"

"clay, you're their father of course you can have them whenever you want. i'm not going to stop our children from spending time with you. expecially after all these years. plus i had to switch a shift with one of my coworkers so they were just going to be at my parents tomorrow anyways"

"ok"

"you will be fine"

"do you remember when you had to babysit you little sister and brother but you would sneak me over" i said

"you never wanted to actually watch them because your older sister was always out at her boyfriends house and because you and me just wanted to sit in your room so you could play video games and i could go on my phone to text random people. but then your sister would come in and drag you out of the room to make her a grilled cheese or she would tell your mom that i came over" he laughed a little remembering everything

"think of it like that but insted its not your siblings, it your kids and you also better not sit in your room playing video games"

"how are your siblings by the way" i asked

"their good. Ethan graduated high school this past year and Savannah is half way done high school and skylar lives all the way in New Jersey now" he replied

"mommy what are we going to have for dindin" Makayla asked

"i dont know yet kaylz. you two can help me decide when we get home"

"you guys could join me and nick for dinner. only of course if you're okay with that and want to and everything"

"no no you have spent all day with us and you're spending tomorrow with them, you dont need to. we can just have some chicken or something"

"ill have better food than chicken. cmon it will be fun and plus you have to meet nick hes a lot different than his 14 year old self and the girls can meet him too"

"i thought he didnt know about them"

"i'm sure he will understand" clay shrugged his shoulders

"what exactly would yo consider 'better than chicken' because literally almost everything is better than the chicken they eat"

"well what do they like to eat"

"um well they like basically anything with cheese on it and they also like-"

"what if we did pizzas. they can make their own how they like it, and luckily for us my mom was over just the other day and she brought a whole bunch of food. one of the foods being this pizza dough nick had requested"

"i don't know cl-"

"i want pizza mommy" Makenzie says before i could finish my sentence. its not that we couldnt have dinner with them but its just that its only been a day so i feel like we just need a second to just think and not rush things but clearly the girls have other plans.

"see even they want pizza" clay raised his eyebrows at me waiting for my response. i stood there quietly so a little bit thinking if i should stand my ground or if i should just agree

"fine"

clay got all happy after i agreed "BUT.. i'm not walking into your house with your roommate not knowing about the girls and not knowing who they are so you better tell him because that would be extremely awkward" i said

"mhm" he nodded
"he will know don't worry"

"We can meet you at your place at 4. We can make the pizzas and have it ready for 5 5;30" I said helping the girls out of the swing.

"Sounds good" clay says as we started to walk back to our cars. It was only 2 o'clock right now so I'm giving him plenty of time to do everything he needs to do before dinner.
