I would be lying if I said I wasn't having fun playing against Nick and Clay in a game of mario kart. the girls are both exhausted from the long day so they are half dozing off beside me. never in my 21 years of living did I ever think I would be sitting in a room with my ex boyfriend, his friend he met online, and my two half asleep daughters and playing a very funny but competing video game.

"HA you guys suck!" Nick said jumping up and down after he got first place. I got 2nd and Clay got a 'close' 3rd

"you only won that because you were standing blocking the entire screen" Clay said

"you two! quiet" I said pointing at the girls who surprisingly didn't wake up with Nick screaming

"if you wake them up you are going to be dealing with the monsters that also come"

"oh god trust me I have dealt with waking up this grump" Nick pointed at Clay "and if they are anything like that i'm out" he quietly walked away

"I don't like to be waken for dumb reasons like wanting to play a video game" Clay said in defense

"oh if there's one thing that I remember of us being in high school, its to never try to wake you up"

it went silent. it was awkward but also a bit calming. i have my head against the back of the couch relaxing

"i had fun today" I said turning my head to look at him

"yeah me to. its been hectic but fun" he smiled

"i'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me" he said

"Clay-"

"I didn't know you were pregnant and I thought we were careful and I know that's not an excuse but I feel I not only failed you but I failed Makayla and Makenzie" he looked down

"I didn't even know I was pregnant myself Clay. there is no way you should of known either. plus all that matters now is that you are with them for the rest of our life" I say

"do you hate me"

"trust me although I still think you were a dick when you did that to me 5 and a half years ago. I need to forgive you so that these girls can have the father that they deserve" I looked back at the girls

CLAY'S POV

weird enough i'm actually happy she said that because it means shes giving me a shot to be better than my 17 year old self and that's all I could ever ask from her. its going to take a lot of work but hopefully over time I can gain back the trust and I'm willing to do absolutely everything in my power to get to that point

We slowly made our way out the door and loaded the girls in their car seats

"so.. I work at 9 so I can drop them off at 8ish, unless that's to early and you don't want-"

"that's perfect" I stopped her from finishing that sentence

"okay well um see you then I guess"

"wait before you go there is something you need to know and im hoping this doesn't effect anything" she looked at me confused

"I may or may not have a large online fanbase. and by large I mean almost 30 million people" if she wasn't confused before, she is now

"remember when we used to make those old minecraft videos and home videos for fun and just to document everything.. well that's my job now.. making minecraft videos"

"that actually worked out?" she asked. she knew that it was something I enjoyed and wanted to do but I never took it to seriously when we dated.

"yeah. its fun and I mean it has its cons but over all its the best"
