Being at home for a week, back in the comfort of your bed and letting your new baby get acquainted with his surroundings. Try to get as much rest as possible during the night between Darcy's awakenings. After giving it all up on his own, Harry called his mother over to help the two of you take care of the baby.

"Thank you, mom. We struggled." Harry smiled and pulled her into a hug."No problem, sweetheart. You two need rest. I've looked after babies before." She giggled, thinking about when Harry and Gemma were babies. On those first nights out of the hospital. They were tired and sore but still able to get them what they needed when they cried at night.

During the day her job was just to tidy up around the house and help Harry with the cooking and laundry while they rested either on the sofa or in bed with the baby. Harry comes by regularly to check on you.

"Are you feeling alright?" he whispered, bending down and pressing his lips to your forehead, cupping the back of Darcy's tiny head in his hand."We're fine, thanks." You smiled."I'll bring you a little dinner when it's ready. Spaghetti." He smiled and kissed you and his little girl.

He sat down in the dining room with his mother and handed her the food he had prepared for her. Smiling at her and pouring her a glass of wine while she ate. Both leave you in the other room to rest.

"I have something for you," she murmured with a grin."What is it?" he wondered, raising an eyebrow. Without saying anything else, she reached into her jacket pocket, which was hanging on the chair behind her, and handed him an envelope. Darcy's name is written on it in her handwriting. Harry's eyes moved back and forth across the table from the note to his mother.

"What is that?"

"A note I wrote for her on the day she was born. I want you and Y/N to wait and read it together. Maybe someday you can treat her to that when she's older and having a bad day." She smiled. Silence filled the room as she reached across the table and held out her hand, waiting for him to take it.

"I know she's brand new and you might not know what to think about being a father, but I'm so proud of you and who you are, sweetie. You've grown into a lovely young man, married a lovely woman I was hoping you would find and made the sweetest little girl. I'm glad you're happy and in love."

"I'm so in love mom. I don't think I could ever fall in love with someone else."

After dinner, Harry helped you up the stairs and back to the bedroom, making sure you were comfortable and warm while he got ready for bed. He brushed his teeth and said good night to his mother, then went back into the bedroom and crawled into bed with you.

"Mum gave me this for dinner tonight," he murmured, showing you an envelope with Darcy's name beautifully written on it. "She said she wanted us to read it together."

"Read it to me." You cracked.

Harry carefully opened the envelope to reveal a piece of paper folded inside. She pulled it out and unfolded it to find it was a letter Anne had explicitly written to her new granddaughter and dated to the day of her birth, as she told him. Harry scanned his mother's writing before clearing his throat and starting to read the letter.

Dear Darcy, Welcome to the world, little one. You blessed so many of us with your birth and your life. You have given us as your family something to love and cherish with all our hearts. You are so tiny. Your hands and feet are small and adorable. Your fingers and toes couldn't make my heart swell anymore. Your little grunts and squeaks are things I have longed for since I found out about you. Ever since I found out I'd be your nana. You see, you've been a little stubborn with your mom and dad. They tried countless months for you and nothing seemed to work. Your daddy has been worried for most of these months. He called me weekly and wanted to know why it wasn't working. He would cry and worry about you even before you were created. He loved you before you existed. Your mom was a strong woman all along. She never gave up on you and neither did your father. Both were determined to bring you into this world. You surprised her one day after they tried and tried. When they found out about you, sweetheart, you were already so popular. They were so excited to meet you, hold you and give you lots of mommy and daddy kisses. When you were born you weighed 2.6 kilos. Your mom and dad were so proud of you from the minute they held you in their arms. Your daddy didn't think he could love someone as small as he loved you. And little bean, he will always love you. Your mom will always love you. As you grow and experience new things in your life, you will discover the art of crawling. From crawling to standing on your own two feet. You might be a bit shaky at first, but if you keep trying, you'll get the hang of it. You will experience so many birthdays dear baby. You will grow big and strong and one day you will be a beautiful young lady. I hope and pray that as your grandmother you will cherish the moments with your mom and dad as you grow. I pray that when you are old enough you will find a boy who will love you like your father loves your mother. I pray that you will always turn to your parents and always feel like you can tell them anything. Your daddy is good at keeping secrets and will always be your best friend. Your mom will always be there for you when you need extra comfort that your dad can't always provide. She is wise and will always help you when you need her. I'm so honoured to be your nana, sweetie. You have given me so much joy since you arrived. Ever since your father and aunt Gemma were young, I had always hoped that they would find someone perfect for them and start a family that would carry on traditions that have run in that family for many years. You made me the happiest nana in the whole world, little one. Always remember that you are so special, that you are beautiful and that you can do whatever you want. You can do whatever makes you happiest. Remember to always be kind and stay true to yourself, bean. All of this will come with time as you get older. You are loved by so many inside and outside of this family, Darcy Anne. We are so blessed to be your family and I am so glad to be your nana. all my love to you Nana Anne x

Harry refolded the letter and placed it on the bedside table. To sink into the ceiling with you without a word. He puts his arm around you and pulls you towards him.

"Look at me, love." He whispered, lifting your chin towards him. Smiled down at you as he pushed your hair back from your face. "What are you thinking?"

"I hope we're good parents, Harry." You whisper. "I hope we teach her the right things. I hope we show her what values are and make sure she knows how much she's worth."

"We will, sweetheart. I promise." He cooed and pressed his lips to your forehead."What if I'm a bad mom? What if I don't raise them well? What if I screw up?"Harry couldn't help but giggle at you. You've been thinking too much again. Stress about nothing.

"Honey, you're going to be a great mom. You are beautiful. You are there for her every time she needs you. She'll see us fail at being her parents someday. When she is older she will realize that we have some spats but we will always follow her by telling her how much we love each other. It's okay to mess up and it's acceptable at times, dear."

He was right. You knew there would be times when you both would screw up this whole parenting thing, but sooner or later you would get the hang of it. Anne's letter to your daughter put your mind at ease. Knowing that she had faith in the two of you to take care of your child, be responsible adults and have a family, she knew you would make it through.

"We're going to have ups and downs throughout this whole thing. We're a family and we won't always be perfect, but I'm not going anywhere and I wouldn't want to raise my daughter with any other woman." He smiled.

"You truly are the best husband I could ask for and the best father to our baby. I love you."

"I love you too my darling."

...

And here you have a somewhat more emotional chapter, I hope you like it. I think the idea of writing a letter that Darcy can read at some point, in that case, is nice to write or read it again myself, I thought to myself that I might end up doing this with my children, because I think it's a nice idea and, above all, as a reminder. Nowadays you can do so much on your phone or save it on the laptop, but such things will never be lost or can never be replaced by it.
