🦋Deception🦋

You look at me,
Like I'm the only one who matters,
Your gaze searches, the center of my being,
Am I the only one who saw it?

You gave me flowers,
Blossoms of roses white and red,
Your hands caressed my cheeks, spreading color,
Am I the only one who felt it?

I gave you my heart,
You deemed it yours,
You guarded it like a hound,
Or so deception tells me.

I saw flowers in your hands,
A garden in your eyes,
And a sealed fountain in your heart,
Was it all just that, a dream?

I loved you more than any,
Honey and curds I prepared for you,
Wine and figs I gifted you,
Was it worth a hollow well, in the end?

Then my eyes opened.
And I saw, what my heart, blinded
With the shadow of love, could not see
What you truly meant for me.

Alas! My heart is crushed, grappling with thorns
She wailed, the voice of a broken woman,
I gave you my soul,
And you pierced it!

I've tasted and seen,
Yet seemed so unsure,
My eyes are open and unseeing,
Refusing to look, at this broken piece of clay.

All hope seems lost,
The cry of the wilderness shattering my resolve,
What love meant,
What I saw, in you.

I see a trampled rose,
Under your soles,
And I realize,
All I saw, was just a mirage, an illusion.

It was just that... an illusion.

 an illusion
