Strung Up Upon a Burning Cross

Every Sunday,

The burning dread

Of what's to come

Not far now

They shame your name

They kill your love

They scream at your wrongs

Claiming peaceful ways

Your fate is in his hands

A man of whom you must love

But fear, at the same time

That sounds abusive doesn't it?

The spirit condemns you

An afterlife sentence

Of eternal damnation

For your wrongs

But the all powerful being

Doesn't choose what's a sin

No others do that for him

And he doesn't preach for himself

No others do that too

He doesn't even give himself,

No, he sacrificed another

Shame on nonbelievers

The endless torture

One wrong is all it takes to die

So I'm sorry I'm gone

You've strung me up

Upon the burning cross

Sacrificed my soul

I shan't return

So watch me burn,

And spit in my face

Why, God, have you forsaken me?
