ɪ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ'ᴛ ʙᴇʟᴇɪᴠᴇ ᴍʏ ᴇʏᴇs. I blinked again as I stared at the man in my driveway, my car hood was up, and he was practically shirtless. Outside of his suit, showing so much skin — too much skin — skin I'd never seen before, not even at the gym.

I gathered my bag and water bottle that was in the car trying to make this as quickly as possible before Hayley screams any sexual innuendos and scare the poor guy away — her eyes are wide open and I know she'll never let this go.

Hayley whistled and I swear Reiner heard it because he looked in our direction for a brief second. "Woah, who's this babe in your driveway?"

Hayley was my only friend outside of everything, I truly think she's the one person I could always rely on, but she had a knack for embarrassing me, only because I come off quiet, and she was always unapologetically herself, which is great. . . until it isn't.

I rolled my eyes, "shut up." I grumbled out before opening the car door, desperately trying to make her drive off, the longer she sticks around, the risk of her brutally embarrassing me goes higher.

"Just make sure to reward him for his hard work." She popped her tongue in, pushing it to the other side of her mouth as she used her hand to fist air. She rolled her eyes back as she gave the air a fake blowjob. and I flipped her off as she drove away laughing like a maniac.

I released a breath turning around, walking towards Reiner, a little mortified that he might've seen. . . everything. But he didn't, he was haunched down in front of my car, twisting stuff. His back was sweaty and his muscles flexed with each movement, my eyes are like a magnet, following his every move. I swallowed, clearing my throat in the process, but I am aware that there's moments like this where I have to fix myself because once again I am forced to remember that Reiner is a man.

I walked closer towards Reiner, close enough that if I spoke he'd hear me. "Well I'm glad you beat me here first because I was an idiot giving you my keys. I forgot that those are the same keys that open my door," I awkwardly laughed. I'm used to laughing at my own jokes but I don't usually have such a dense audience.

"Hmm." He replied. That one sound answer. I really hate it.

I stretched out a hand, "can I please have my keys back."

I watch him shift his body to the side digging for the keys, the silver chain around his neck coming to view.

A cross.

My breath was caught in my throat as I blinked for the third time, getting a better view, my eyes were glued on the silver necklace around his neck, the cross dangled against his wet sweaty skin. Fuck me. Reiner placed the keys in the palm of my hand, without even sparing me a glance — in matter of seconds he was back to twisting and turning what whatever the hell he was fixing
Goosebumps pricked my skin, and that sick feeling in my stomach was back.

I glanced at him one last time before walking to my door, opening it as I shoved myself inside. The second I closed the door, Blue rubbed his body around my feet, doing his greeting ritual. I smiled before crouching down to pet him.

"How's Blue today?" I cupped his face and he meowed, probably complaining about me not coming home soon enough. But without a beat Blue wagged his tail making his way to the kitchen, and it's my job to meet him there.
I adopted Blue after I moved in, the house felt empty. I felt lonely enough to not want to feel lonely. And Blue got his name because of his fur. It's so dark it looked like it could be blue. It was that or Salem.
