~Later That Night~
"You're really sleeping in that sleeping bag huh?" Miko teased, watching Five rest in said sleeping bag. He rested in between her bed and Lexi's bed, with Miko resting her head on her hand, laying on her stomach, and peering over at him. "Are you sure you're comfortable there?"
Five tossed and turned a bit before responding, "It'll do the job. Are you sure it's okay for me to stay here?"
"Fiveeee, stop worrying about it! I told you my family would be away for a couple of days, so I just thought we could hang out extra."
The room was dark, however, the moon happened to be bright that night and shed moonlight through her bedroom windows. It definitely made it easier for them to see each other's faces.
"You sure you don't want to rest on Lexi's bed at least?"
"I'm okay Meeks, I promise."
"Then what about mine?" Miko winced at herself saying that, that was TOO bold, yet a part of her was curious as to what the boy would respond. If he said yes, she wouldn't mind. She could just scoot over and make room.
Five, on the other hand, caught off guard, had begun to give it too much though. How was he supposed to respond to that? Was she joking or is she being serious? What if she thinks he's weird for saying yes?
"Y-You gave me the offer, not me.." He finally decided, blushing already. There was no way he was passing up an opportunity like this one. Miko, also blushing from his response, laughed softly and scooted over in her bed as she watched him get up.
He laid down, the two of them locking eyes for a second. "It has her scent..," was what went through Five's mind. Miko also found it hard to believe that he was lying there with her in the same bed. Maybe this can be a good opportunity to finally say it.
Though it was dark in the bedroom, the little amount of moonlight made it so that they could see both of their blushes, which was made all the easier now that their bodies were a lot closer. The pair laid, awake, but in silence. The only real sound was the occasional car passing by and the crickets chirping peacefully. Neither of them felt tired at the moment.
"H-Hey Five?"
"Y-Yeah Miko?"
"What are you doing in my bed creep?"
They both started laughing, almost as if they were little kids in a slumber party trying not to wake up the kid's mom. However, it wasn't long before they fell silent once again.
"Miko.." Five struggled to get the question out, almost chickening out after the doubt nearly won. "H-How do you feel about me, like really?"
Miko locked eyes with Five as she processed the question. Her heart raced extremely fast at the question. Could this be the opportunity she was looking for?
"I..." Her face reddened all the more. At this point, she believed her face was practically glowing. "..I think you're a really sweet guy. You're always there looking out for me, and I like that a lot. You're someone that's always been there to help me cheer up after being bummed out or calming me down after getting frustrated. I know that I can trust you with anything..." Miko quickly realized how easily she rambled on about him, how she said everything else with ease once she got into it. Five's eyes widened in reaction, not believing what he was hearing. What he could believe was the sound of his thumping heart. "W-What about you..?"
He blinked in the dark, still having his eyes locked with hers.
"I am..how do I put this? Really grateful that we met. Honestly, if you didn't go look for me and remind me how I won the tournament after being reset, I think I'd still be living a boring, normal life," Five shifted under the covers. "Once I met you, everything got so much more exciting and interesting. I've been having lots of fun with you as my partner in what seems like a different world that the old me couldn't have possibly imagined. But at the same time, I got to know you all the better. You always try to stay positive with a smile on your face, you're someone I can rely on when I'm stuck or upset and sure that I can trust. You make me happy."
He stopped there, looking down as he thought about his words carefully as Miko's eyes blurred up a bit. Not because of tiredness, but maybe once again the waterworks started up again. There was something about the way he was saying everything that sounded so...genuine. As if he pulled those words straight out of his heart, causing her to feel sentimental. Five on the other hand ended up noticing the glimmering teardrops forming in her eyes, shifted closer, and reached out with his finger to wipe them away. "I-I'm sorry...Did I say something I shouldn't have Meeks..?"
She shook her head no, cracking a gentle smile that conflicted with her watery eyes. "Stop being so good with words.."
Miko scooted her body closer to his in her bed, burying her face into his shirt and chest. Her hands gently clenched onto the fabric of his shirt. The galaxy-haired girl took in his scent with a smile as she listened to the rhythm of Five's racing heart. The boy could only stare at the top of her head, unsure as to what to do with his hands and arms. Gently, he caressed her hair, as to not accidentally tug or pull a strand with his hand. "I'm sorry.." He whispered, questioning as to whether or not he was dreaming.
"Five.." Her muffled voice said. "Truth is...I want you to be my...boyfriend."
At the same time, as she made her statement, her grip tightened a bit more as she attempted to bury her face even more. Five was almost sure he could feel the heat being given off by her face from blushing so hard. He himself was at a loss of words, staring at the top of her head. Five had no idea how he looked, but he was almost positive that his face was completely tomato red.
"Y-Your b-boyfriend...?"
"...yes."
Five grinned ear to ear, closing his eyes and feeling his arms slowly embrace her and held Miko as close as he could. "W-Well, since you're telling me that, I'll gladly be your boyfriend, Meeks."
Her head slowly pushed off of his chest as her eyes looked upwards to meet his. Her heart was racing alongside Five's. "Are you..for real? You better not be joking with me Five! I-I'm serious!" A flustered Miko exclaimed, her face blushing madly as he chuckled at her comment. "I'm not joking, of course I'd love to be your boyfriend." As he said this, the girl quickly shifted close to his body, holding him tighter than before giving an excited squeal.
"I hope you don't find me annoying though.." She snickered.
"Of course I do."
"FIVE! Don't go ruining a moment like that," She pouted at him with a playful frown, knowing that he was joking based off of his tone. He laughed quietly, scratching the back of his head with a playful grin. However, his hand reached over, tucking a strand of hair behind Miko's ear soon after.
"I'm sorry for saying that. As if I'd ever find you annoying Meeks."
"Dummy.." She yawned, snuggling up to Five once again, placing her ear atop of his heart, listening closely to the heartbeat. Truly it felt like she wasn't awake and dreaming, yet Miko was also aware that this was real life. Five gently caressed her hair as Miko rested, slowly falling asleep.
However, before they could even give a proper goodnight, both Five and Miko had already fallen asleep cuddling.
