I am waiting at the mall as told by Iroha. It's been half an hour already, but Iroha hasn't arrived. Man, this is totally boring, I can't even read online manga or play games on my phone, because it's locked.

?????: Excuse me, sorry to keep you waiting.

It's Iroha, that evil who  deprived  me of my private time and forced me to come after school.

Iroha : I am really sorry, it took time to get ready. What's this Senpai, you are still in your school uniform??

Yeah, so what if I am?? I looked at Iroha, she wasn't wearing her school uniform, she was dressed up as if going for some event, and was wearing a heavy make up.

Iroha: I am dressed up so nicely and you're still wearing school uniform?? It's total mismatch!!

Hachiman: So, are you telling me that you went home, got changed and  then came here?

Iroha: Of course, it's obvious. That's why it took me so much time. You should have dressed up properly

Hachiman: Forget it, once I return to my home sweet home, there's no way I will go outdoors again .

Iroha (pout)

                       Senpai, you are so boring!!

Hachiman: Yeah whatever, now let's not waste time, and get started with your work, so we can finish it and I can go home.  So tell me, what did you need my help for??

Iroha's mind : He thinks I really called him for work!! How can't he understand such simple thing??? Senpai you jerk !!!

Hachiman: Ok tell me what's your problem??

Iroha: Senpai, could you date me??

Hachiman: (completely shocked): But you like Hayama, don't you??

Iroha: (Annoyed) Actually, the thing is, he rejected me..

Hachiman: I know that, but I thought  you said that  you would never give up.\

Iroha's mind - (Now completely annoyed) Why can't this boy understand?? This is really going to be tough!!

Iroha: THe thing is that, he rejected me and it's gone viral in our school and it's very humiliating for me. So I thought that if the news that we are dating spreads,  they'll forget about it!!

Hachiman: Oh , so that's the problem. Yes, I know when you ask someone out and get rejected, it gets really humiliating.
Dating someone is seen as a status symbol in high school years. Being single is one thing, but being rejected is worse.
If we consider social hierarchy, people who are dating someone lie at the top, below them are those who are single , and the rejected ones are the bottommost trash of the society. This is the harsh truth of the rotten society.
Iroha is a delicate maiden, and she cannot bear this burden.

Iroha: And additionally, it would help me to get Hayama Senpai jealous and score me some points with him.

Hachiman's mind: I take my words back!! She is a complete devil!!

Hachiman: Okay, whatever, now unlock my phone.

Iroha: Relax, I will unlock it, why are you so attached to your phone!

Hachiman: Because my sister is worry wart and she will be really worried since it's so late and I am still not home. So I must let her know that I will be home late today.

Iroha: Yeah, okay, fine.....

Iroha's mind- Senpai, you why are you so thicc headed and dense!! You really don't get a hint!! I will really have to work hard

Hachiman's mind: I am not going to be flustered by this, not going to hold false expectations and hopes again. Whenever a girl says act, it means ACT!!! There's no way it will develop into some kind of developments!!

This incident is bringing me back some bitter memories from middle school
FLASHBACK:
A certain boy, very timid. One day, a very beautiful girl comes up and talks to him. She seems very friendly towards him. The timid boy is very happy that such a beautiful girl is friendly to him. She shares her problem with him. As she is beautiful and popular girl in the school, lot of guys are after her. She is getting confessions after confessions from different boys. She is really fed up.

Beautiful Girl: Could you pretend that we are dating?? If the news that we are dating spreads, I will stop getting these confessions.

The timid boy agrees. From next day, both of them go to school together, have lunch together, and walk home together after school.The Beautiful girl is open minded and shares everything with him.

Timid boy thinks : May be she likes me!! That's why she asked  me to date her!!May be while faking it , this can develop into a real relationship!!!!

So, one day he decides to confess his true feelings.
Timid boy:  Um.. Actually... I want to tell you something.....can we talk after  school??

Beautiful girl: Actually, even I want to tell you something,.. Okay we will talk after school on the way home.

Timid boy's mind : She has something to say?? Maybe during this fake drama, she really fell for me!! May be she is planning to confess!!

After school, on the way home, they stop by at a garden.
Timid boy: Okay, so you wanted to tell me something!!

Beautiful girl: Yes, but even you wanted to say something!! You go first!!

Timid boy: (Flustered)....(Gathering courage).. Actually, .... Um..... I know you asked me,.. to ....like pretend to date,,
              But... um.. during this.... I really...like fell .. for you. Could it be that even you like me and you wanted to confess??

Beautiful Girl: What are you saying?? Don't be ridiculous!! I  just wanted to tell you that I am transferring school so we don't have to pretend to do this anymore!!  Okay, now goodbye, I've gotta go.

I have learned from my  experience, I won't fall for the same trap twice. Whenever a girl says pretend, IT MEANS PRETEND!!
There's no way such a development will happen and I know it.
