"Adrienne, Adrienne" I hear Jesse yell down the hall.

I couldn't let another person see me cry. Especially Jesse.

I didn't know where to go. To stay and hideout? Or go home?  I ran into a little alleyway behind the school. I sat on the ground next to a dumpster. I took deep breaths and wiped the tears away from my eyes. I heard footsteps slowly coming near the dumpster. I look up to see Jesse.

"How did you find me," I say

"Why's that matter, why'd you run off like that," He asks

"I'd rather not talk about it, you wouldn't get it," I say

"try me," He says

I look up at him and roll my eyes

"You think you have to know everything don't you," I say

"I deserve to know what just happened in there, you owe me that," He says

"Alright," I say

"A few nights ago, I was supposed to go out with this guy to a dance. He was a really sweet guy, but he dumped punch on me and everyone started laughing. It was the worst I've ever felt. Before he took me in front of the stage where the punch was thrown on me, he grabbed my hand in what I thought was a comforting way, like you did, but I was proven wrong" I say

It was silent for a few seconds before he said "I didn't know that, I'm sorry that happened I ain't that kid though" he said

I look up at him confusingly wondering why he would feel bad for me.

"Come on, I got a cool place to show you," He said

Me not knowing him too well, I hesitated.

"I don't know, I don't know you that well," I say

"What you don't trust me. Is it cause I'm a greaser" He says cackling

"That's not it at all, it's just there are weirdos out here," I say nervously

"Oh so I'm a weirdo now," He says laughing

"No, I didn't mean it like that," I say with guilt

"Trust me, you need to get out of here," He says

I hesitantly look at him when he grabs my hand.

"You'll be fine sweetheart we will be back soon enough," He says as I follow him like a lost puppy.

He walks me to this royal blue mustang which I was in awe of. I've always loved old cars.

"You like it," he asks with a grin

"Yea I love it, my dad, um friend works on cars," I say trying to cover up my slur not knowing if my new dad liked cars or not.

He gave me a funny look as he opened up the passenger door waiting for me to get inside.

I looked at him funny back, forgetting guys were supposed to open doors for women at this time Something Alex lacked at.

"You act as if no one has ever held a door for you," He said cackling

I laugh as I sit inside. He walks over to his door and sits inside as he looks at me and smiles.

"Well let's get going, I think you'll love this place," He says as he starts driving

"Are we skipping class?" I ask genuinely concerned, I've been doing so well here.

"Yea kind of but you aren't gonna get in trouble," He says
