Lance sighed as he looked up at the roof of his bed. Being in love sucks.

And why? Why again with Keith? He hates this. He just wanted to be friends again. But of course, his feelings always have to get in the way.

It was about 9 in the morning; it was around the time where Keith would usually come knocking at his door. But there was nothing to hear, just Lance grumbling at his situation. It took a while before Lance finally decided to leave his bed and get out of his room.

As soon as he opened it, there was Keith, looking like he was standing there for a while. His hand was gestured in a way where he was about to knock but was hesitating.

"Keith... Hey man, what's up?" Lance tried to prop himself up on his doorway, failing at an attempt to seem cool. Keith seemed to be deep in thought about something before he shook his head. "Lance... are you busy?" Keith asked, he seemed nervous.

Busy? Why would I be busy? Lance asked himself. "No, is something up?" Lance came off the door, looking at Keith in curiosity. "No, nothing in particular... I just- well," Keith stuttered over his words. Wait... Keith is stuttering? Since when does Keith get nervous anyway?

"You okay Keith?" Lance placed a hand on Keith's shoulder.

In that moment, Lance could've sworn something flashed in Keith's eyes before they dulled once more. Keith was hiding something. Keith grasped onto Lance's hand and lowered it off of his shoulder. "Yes, everything is fine. I apologize for making you worry. I was just wondering if you were ready yet, we have to greet the people today." Yeah, Keith definitely was going to say something completely different. But Lance didn't mind.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot." Lance rolled his eyes. It wasn't like he hated his own people or anything, but it felt like another tedious task to keep in touch. Many kingdoms have made the mistake of being neglectful of their people in the past, causing them to fall. However, Lance couldn't help but feel annoyed. If he was going to greet the people, it should be on his own.

Making genuine connections was important to Lance after all, he hated the fear caused by authority. For example, the Galra working in the kingdom were always afraid they would be punished if they did a single thing incorrectly, like any kind of minor inconvenience would jeopardize anything they worked for. Lance hated that they felt that way, no matter if it was true or not.

"Do I really have to?" Lance knew that he had to. He just wanted to stall, plus talking to Keith was always nice, though Lance wouldn't admit that. "Yes." Keith deadpanned. Lance pouted and placed a hand on his head dramatically, "Oh, but my glorious, majestical, Knight Keith... I cannot possibly go greet the people with this dreadful fever that just dawned upon me! ~" Lance started to pretend to faint, twirling and landing his back onto Keith's torso.

Keith had an annoyed look upon his face as Lance smirked at him from below. "Do you always have to make my job harder?" Keith sighed. Lance simply leaned harder against Keith, almost making them fall over. Keith stumbled and reflexively held Lance's arms in place to stabilize. "Oh the pain!" Lance exclaimed again.

Keith's ears flattened against his head. "Okay you know what, I have a deal for you." Keith, who had a hold on Lance's arms twisted him around so they could be face to face. They were pretty close, but it wasn't enough for either to get flustered. "IF you behave and go to greet the people properly, I won't force you to study for a week." Keith said seriously.

"And..." Keith continued after taking a small look around them. "...I'll give you a surprise later." He whispered.

Lance blinked. A surprise? WHAT?

Lance couldn't help but feel like this was what Keith meant to say earlier, he didn't know why, but it did feel like Keith just got something off his chest.

"What kind of surprise are we talking here?" Lance asked with a little ounce of giddiness. "Well, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if I told you would it?" Keith raised an eyebrow. Lance started to process quietly before asking, "And how do I know that you're not scamming me right now?" Lance also raised an eyebrow.

"You know that I keep my promises Lance." Keith paused, "....most of the time." He added.

Lance sighed to himself, he already knew the consequences from his parents if he didn't go but Keith didn't have to know about that. This is basically Lance's free-bee, why not take advantage of it? "Fineeeeeeee..." Lance sighed dramatically yet again, "I'll go, this surprise of yours better be good Keith." Lance managed to get one hand out of Keith's grasp and booped Keith's nose before going back into his room to get ready.

Lance managed to glance at Keith once more before he shut his door, Keith put a hand up to his nose and Lance could've sworn he saw the Galra blush. But maybe that was his heart making up things.

The door closed with a tiny click.
