Covers are super important for advertising your story. Whether your books ends up printed or not, your cover will be the reason your book gets attention. Covers create the vibe and basic idea of your story and will attract the people who are into the type of stuff being advertised by just a glance. A cover and a good title will end up being the entire reason someone picks up your book.
But now everyone can hire an artist to make a cover for them, nor possess the skills to draw or edit one together themselves. Fear not, there are many ways to make a good cover, and good news, it doesn't have to be super detailed!
I'll show some example of covers I've made, a lot of which were for fan-fiction:
Here is the cover I made for a fanfiction on another account. It's a thriller fiction, so I gave a grungy vibe to the cover. I wanted it to be dark and edgy, so that it would only get the attention of people who could probably handle the graphics in the story. It's a simple cover, only having one photo and very basic title format, so making something like this would be fairly simple.
Yet another fanfiction for my other profile. This one I wanted to make more soft and gentle. It's a more positive book, so adding the hearts and rainbow streaks should hopefully make a reader expect it to be as such.
This one was also fanfiction, a thriller set in a post apocalyptic world. With fanfiction I try to keep the covers very simple of I can. This one was meant to be dark, as fitting for the story which leans to a more graphic side of things.
